I don't usually jump on board with these types of declarative statements, but it would definitely be a hard case to argue against. He is, without a doubt, a very fun player to watch.
The Pearce/Heath game was as well pitched a high school game as I can remember. Both pitchers worked quickly and threw strikes.

Renfro is an outstanding pitcher who I think will have quite a bit of success at the next level.

Thompson is a dominant pitcher who I think is simply an overmatch for the large majority of high school hitters he will face. He's got more than just the fastball working for him and he uses all his pitches very effectively. Quite a treat to watch him throw last night.

Thompson also crushes long, long solo HR. Renfro also threw very well but Thompson was dominant.

Heath's second run was unearned. Renfro did pitch well, but agree Thompson dominant. Fun HS game to attend and good crowd atmosphere.
I don't have a dog is this hunt anymore but the Wilson kid from HP threw 4 shut out innings at Rockwall and then a 4 hit, 1 run complete game at home against Wylie East and HP lost them both. If you can't hit or score runs does it matter how good your pitching is?

When was last time Scots were in 6th place in district? Could end up being a pillow fight in 10-4A this year.
RO---You're missing my point. Jake may have hit it 430 (and he probably did as I've seen him do it before) but if you measure 430 from homeplate at JJP it will put you about 80 feet into the practice field behind the outfield walls. Why didn't JJP hit one out? Probably because they were over-matched and under-talented?

My point, to the extent I was trying to make one, was as follows: (1) HP has had some good pitching but couldn't hit the water if they fell out of a boat in the middle of the freaking ocean and (2) it may end that everyone beats everyone at least once or twice in the district.
I apologize if I've offended the official Thompson fan club and somehow slighted his awesomeness.
RO--How did you delete the prior posts? That is an awesome superpower that I wish I had in my everyday life.

No offense meant to Thompson or anyone else. Just an observation that perhaps BBCOR and other factors can sometimes beset a team and make it difficult to score runs that even quality pitching can't overcome.

Now if we want to talk about the size of the shoebox that JJP plays and the impact the prevailing South wind has on balls hit to the OF we're "game on".
Has been brought to my attention that perhaps my earlier post was intended as a slight to HP. Not the case. Have tons of respect for program and players. Just an observation from the peanut gallery that even good pitching can be beat. See my comment from earlier post Thursday "No offense meant to Thompson or anyone else. Wonder if Lion Pop still ranks other pitchers ahead of him in this district?

RO - I appreciate you continuing to bring this up. Can you get over it?

why don't you start a thread called RW Heath if you plan to make a smart *** comment anytime someone says something good about a team or player that doesn't go to Heath?

I believe RW Heath has the three top pitchers that have ever played HS baseball in the state of Texas. Is that good enough for you?

I just want to know if you still believe JJP has the best pitcher in 10-4A

I believe based on games played up to this point JT would be the BEST PITCHER in 10-4A. I hope that makes you happy!

Renfro is still a very good pitcher as well, I think if you read my post we were talking about teams that were sleepers.

Let me ask you a question: What do you think Renfro's record would be if he were playing for Heath?

I never said Pearce was going to win the district but I think you and anyone who has seen this kid play will agree that they have a chance to win anytime he pitches. (Yes, same goes for JT and several others)
Wow. I am so glad high school is almost over. That should not be the sentiment one should have but in my family's case it certainly is appropriate. I could care less what those who want to take potshots at my son or family have to say. Those comments are usually inaccurate anyway. For those who have nice words, then we thank you. We wish continued good health and success for everyone. "Let the kids play".

Well Big Train I haven't read anything on here where anyone said anything bad about either of these players. I am not sure if you consider discussion about who is the best pitcher in the district a "potshot" at your son or your family but if so you are in big trouble at the next level.

I will only speak for myself here but I have commented several times always saying both of these kids are great players. Sorry if that offends you.
Not meant for you Lion Pop or this particular thread. I/we have been targeted in years past by "anonymous" posters. I have no trouble receiving criticism when it is justifiable and someone takes ownership of it. That always isn't true on here. We are just happy there will be a next level! I have repeatedly wished good fortune to others and will continue to do so. Life is way too short to spend time worrying about baseless allegations. However, when they are levied against high school kids it is inherently wrong. Good luck to you and yours.
