South Texas Sliders Orange defeated the Waco Storm 5-1 and lost to the Midwest Nationals 14-8. The tournament is being heavily scouted. I believe there were 10 scouts at the Sliders' first game and 17 at the second.

South Texas Sliders Navy won its first game 7-6.

Gotta like a team with a player named "Pecos" on it.

I apologize for not speaking. I was talking to Coach Yoda and thought about coming up to say hello to everyone. Unfortunately, I was a bit "ripe" from throwing three buckets of balls and didn't feel very presentable. I will say, "Hello," next time regardless of my condition.

You will appreciate the fact that Pecos Bill was my favorite Tall Tale since you are "Ms. English" so to speak.

Mustangs are 1-2 in pool play and now we wait to see if we make the winners bracket or not.

South Texas Sliders Orange tied the Kansas City Bullets 6-6. No extra innings were allowed per tourney rules. If I understand the rules regarding tied games properly, the Sliders are 1.5-1.5 in pool play.

South Texas Sliders Navy lost to the Baytown Knights 8-7. They are 1-1 in pool play and have their 3rd game tonight.

Not sure yet but it looks like the Mustangs Randle should make the winners bracket and 11 should get his fist action of the tournament tomorrow.


Kyle Duncan (Arl A's) threw a no hitter today in a 5 inning run rule.

Texas STIX finished pool play 0-2-1

We lost today to a really good Indiana Bulls team. There were scouts all over our game watching those guys.

We tied tonights game 5-5. We had a 5 to 0 lead over the Austin Wings going into the top of the 7th and gave up 5 runs. Tough luck for our starting P who threw 6 great innings. He was pulled after 6.

We got a bye in the Consolation bracket and move on to the Cons. Quarterfinals.

I have seen coaches scouting from TCU, Kansas, Army, Navy, Indiana State, Missouri, A&M, Baylor, UTSA, the Houston Astros and more. So far many of these boys are getting some exposure and that is really what it is all about.

Add to that scouting list Dallas Baptist, New Mexico, University of Memphis, Rollins College, Kansas State, and many unidentified schools. It's amazing.

South Texas Sliders Orange will play Team Ontario at noon today in the championship bracket. South Texas Sliders Navy won their pool and plays their first game tonight against an undetermined opponent.

Sliders Navy plays at Crowder at 7:30 either K C Sluggers or Austin Wings Red.

Fun tournament and lots of tough teams on some great fields. Joplin & Premier do a great job putting this on each year.

This is my first year at the event and I was realy surprised at the amount of college and pro scouts at these games. You can not play here and not be seen by someone.

Team Ontario scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th.

South Texas Sliders Navy advance to the quarter finals in the championship bracket defeating the KC Sluggers 6-0. Play Austin Wings Black at noon.

Dallas Mustangs Randle 8
Texas STIX 7

Stix led 7-6 going into the bottom of 7th. Mustangs load the bases with 2 outs and then hit a ground ball that squeezes under 3rd basemans legs to score 2 runs. Was a very exciting game filled with good and bad emotions.

#12 pitched a good game for Mustangs as did the #4 who followed him. Pitching was equally good from the Stix with #13 pitching 6 strong and then #10 throwing well in the last inning but got some tough luck.

Update on the Baytown Knights...

Went 1-2 through Pool Play (lost 6-2 to Kansas City Sluggers and 12-4 to Dallas Mustangs-Randle). Beat the South Texas Sliders-Navy 8-7...had leads in the first two games too, but couldn't hold them. Mustangs roughed up our relievers pretty good (scored 5 in the 4th with two outs after an error by our shortstop...ahh what could have been...but coulda/shoulda).

Headed to the Consolation Bracket.

Defeated Arizona Clash 11-3 (5-inning run rule).
Defeated Arlington A's Adams 12-2 (5-inning run rule).

Set for a rematch in the Consolation semis with the Dallas Mustangs-Randle today at 2:30 pm at Joe Becker.

Good tournament.

It's a continuation of games for teams in the championship bracket, but the games don't mean anything.

#10, Bush, pitched 5 good innings. Not overpowering stuff, as he had thrown the 2 previous days, but did enough to get the complete game win. We finally put a complete game together with hitting, defense, and pitching all being solid in the same game. We did have 2 innings of rain which made for a soggy end of the game. STIX now face A's Burum Sunday at 9. It feels like we came a long way to play the Mustangs and two A's teams which are in our backyard.

Sliders lose in semi-final 6-4 against Gametime Academy. We just ran out of gas on the mound and at the plate. 6 games in 4 days took it's toll on 11 players.

SV, Congrats on going deep in Premier, it's a lot tougher than it used to be. Who are the coaches for the 18s? Time and distance have kept me from staying in touch there. Things have changed a lot since Van Ryan and Trevino left..Is Scott (Mayer) still coaching any?

Moundeverest, thanks, yes it is a pretty tough tournament now some really good teams here. Scott has not coached this year Matt Gustafson and Billy Centeno coached the top 17u team we did not have a 18u team this year. Both coaches have been very good.
