You are right.....the Scorpions have several players in the 08 class listed in the top 700 players in the country on PGCrosschecker.com, including numbers 30, 50, 101, 135, 286, 336, 349, 359 & 484 along with several top 09 players. They should make a good run.

Texas Blackhawks vs NorCal Red

I overlooked the Blackhawks on the schedule. They are in pool Y and play today at 4:30 at Walton HS against the NorCal Red. I'll put them back up on the original post. Thanks for the clarification.

They have a pretty salty team......DBAT 17's played them Sunday in a double-header and we won the first one 2-1 and tied the second one 0-0.

Bottom 7th......DBAT winning 4-0. Matt Thompson (Arlington Grace Prep) went 5 innings. Ethan Cunningham (Southlake Carroll) on for his second inning of relief. 3 outs and it's over.

They do everything possible to get the games in on the day scheduled. Plus the ground is so dry I bet it won't take much time to make the fields playable.

Dragons, they just didn't hit, our Achille's heal (and a few runing mistakes - wrong sign). They, the Fla team, must have had 6 dink hits, followed by a couple of errors then a ball in the gap. Those Es always come back to bite you. I didn't keep score but I'd say 4 earned runs, maybe 3.

Yep, We beat them last year at the BCS finals, they sent 8 lefty's to the plate and Ledford on the bump. they finished 2nd behind the EC Astro's

Richmond Braves are very tough too...

Last summer It rained every day during our tourney, every game was re-scheduled and played without any hitches, in fact they asked us to stay and play extra games...

Dallas Diamond Jaxx game 2 was rained out as we pulled up to the field.

Game 1 was pretty sloppy with the grass being wet. That's what LHPDAD and I attributed it to anyway. DJ's got some key outs at some perfect times to have them.

Bryant Rutledge started a little slow but finished strong in the two innings he pitched (39 pitches). That's expected for as long as we've gone without a game. He should be back in regular season form for his next outing later this week.

Andrew Smith got the save with 2k's, 1H, and 1BB (17 pitches). Came in with two runners on with no outs. Like Rutledge, he didn't look like regular season form either but should be better when he starts later in the week.

Nothing like loading up the family, and rain clouds and bringing them to GA. This summer is unbelievable no matter where we play we get a little rain. LOL

SVRanger dad, how are things going for the South Texas Sliders 18U navy team?

It appears we are skipping Wed. games for now and moving on to Thursdays. I'd be upset if Ga didn't need the rain so badly.

DBAT finishes pool play 3-0, outscoring opponents 22-2, allowing only 7 hits in the 3 games.

Some Information FWIW

Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible for tournament directors to notify all parents except via the web site… www.worldwoodbat.com

All coaches are kept up to date via phone message system, direct calls, etc. We do not know how to contact all the parents, so they must find out information from the web site, at the sites if available or their teams coaching staff. All team coaches should have any information that we have. We are still in the process of rescheduling some games.

We also stay in contact with most of the scouts and college coaches attending the event.

Some places received 2 inches of rain yesterday and we lost a lot of games. This after losing some on the first day. We did not know when or if we were going to finish everything yesterday until later in the day. After yesterday was complete, rescheduling started. Rescheduling is still taking place at this moment. When a game is rescheduled the coaching staffs are notified immediately and shortly after it is added to the website schedule. People who have been involved in rescheduling big tournaments understand the timing difficulties involved. When one looks at it from just one team’s standpoint, it doesn’t seem all that difficult, but there are lots of issues involved.

The plans are to be completely caught up by the 11:30 games Friday. That is if the weather cooperates. When all pools are completed we will schedule the next rounds. Going into tomorrow we will be 2 time slots behind, thus the 11:30 games ending pool play on Friday, rather than pool play ending late Thursday night. If there’s no more rain the tournament will not miss a single game. If there is a lot more rain we will adjust accordingly.

So far we have heard no complaints from team coaches, so the system seems to be working. If your coach is not aware of the schedule, he should contact tournament officials. Then he will know everything we know or are planning.

We are still planning for a great Championship and hope everyone enjoys the tournament. We understand the concerns, but please be as patient as possible. We have been in many much worse situations in past tournaments, as some of you may already know.

We will do everything humanly possible to make the tournament the best it can be. The nationwide interest is great, the highest it has ever been, but it also caused our server to crash last week with millions of visitors at the same time. That has been fixed! I hope!

Note: There's some good Texas teams here and a lot of talent! The playoffs should be outstanding highest level baseball.

I know you are doing all you can humanly do to get the games in. I know the Georgia area desperately needs the rain, so there can't be too many complaints from the locals. Good luck the rest of the weekend.
