Reed is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Kevin Reed of Memphis. Reed has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments as an Owl baseball player. It’s a great environment.” The Baylor baseball team was ranked in the Top 20 in 2003 by all major polls—eleventh by Baseball America, thirteenth by Collegiate Baseball and fifteenth by ESPN. The team has also appeared in the last six NCAA tournaments and was Big 12 champion in 2000. “Last year, Baylor was runner-up in the Big 12 Tournament, an NCAA Regional winner and one game away from the College World Series. Coach Steve Smith, his staff and players have shown the consistency and success to be considered one of the top programs in the country,” said Head Coach Marc MacMillan, MUS class of 1992. MacMillan was a star baseball player while at MUS, as well as a former player at the University of Mississippi. In addition to his baseball achievements, Reed has maintained a high grade-point average and is involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, including varsity basketball, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish club, and the Ethnic Relations club. He has volunteered for MIFA Meals on Wheels and has been involved with Young Life. Reed was also named to the Dean’s List during his freshman and junior years.“I am extremely excited for Philip and his family. He is a fine young man who has put a great deal of time and effort into both his academics and athletics, and this is a great opportunity for Philip to not only be challenged academically but also compete in a conference that is rich in tradition and talent,” said MacMillan.
Congratulations to Philip and family!
