Yeah, you're right. On any given day....Good luck to those that remain!
Wow, CADAD, You were right on with your analysis of Simi. And if you are saying they are going to be good next year! Wow again.
Got any good stock advice? (just kidding).
Should be a hummer for DI and DII. Gotta go with REV over El Toro, I think.

Actually if I'd tried to predict the Simi v. Mater Dei result analytically I probably would've gone with Mater Dei. I really have no idea who'll win the championship. I'll be rooting for Simi, but I have to give the edge to Wilson if they've got a strong pitcher ready to go. It looks like Wilson used their number 1 from a stuff standpoint against Norco so I think Simi will most likely be able to score 4 or 5 runs. The question is if Simi's pitching can hold Wilson to 4 or 5 runs.
yesterday's simi/mater dei game was priceless....11 innings of anything and everything that could be experienced in a game....bad calls, great plays, and a whole bunch of kids on either side that played their hearts out...too bad someone had to lose. Simi was not to be denied....they could have easily been on the bus and headed home with the win in a regulation seven innings if it were not for a couple of questionable calls at third and home....Simi's bats just don't quit...simi used russo and meyer yesterday....look for the unsung heroes to bring home the bacon on Friday night at dodger stadium. Thiel or Sandler could be on tap...Thiel beat Hart h.s. TWICE this season and Sandler throws hard...Jones is there too...LBWilson used Hicks to close for the final two innings last night, so???? will he pitch again???? Wilson eliminated Simi last year, so it's on their minds for sure. Looking for a little payback...
Oh, by the way CADad, your call on Simi to be more than scary next season is well deserved. They return a bunch of great kids and move up some real talent from a jv squad that went 24-3 this season....and as a simi homer, just a mention of the girls softball team that's playing for the championship as well....they're only 30-0 this season....it's a good time to be at simi high for sure...

Isn't it lousy that someone (when the kids play their hearts out like this) has to lose? Well, I am sure these will be very good games. And I have no doubt that the semis were great too. And in a couple of days it will all be history....
OK then we're off to summer!!

crzy,
Next season should be interesting. I think Sandler will be a good pitcher next season but he looked to me like he was throwing mid 80s at most, but I didn't have a gun. My guess is that Jones will end up being the hard thrower. Meyer looked to be throwing about the same velocity as Sandler but didn't look like he'd be as consistent from outing to outing. I expect Simi to have a solid but not dominant pitching staff to go along with as good or better hitting than they had this season.
TO should drop off quite a bit even though they have some talented underclassmen. I'd still expect them to make a playoff run.
Westlake is losing some talented players, but also has some very talented underclassmen position players. I don't know if they'll have much in the way of pitching.
Royal is going to have an excellent staff next season with Berglund and Buckel. I don't know how good their hitting is going to be.
Moorpark has a couple talented pitchers who people haven't seen but it remains to be seen if they can get enough work during summer and winter to harness the talent and step into the ace roles. There are a couple of other pitchers who could be fairly solid in the mold of a Russo but Moorpark isn't likely to have as much hitting as Simi and that might not be good enough.
I don't see much pitching at NP and they're losing some very good hitters. They'll have a couple pretty good position players coming back though.
I don't know much about Calabasas but don't see the pitching being there with Selarz graduating.
I see Agoura being a very strong hitting team. Their pitchers have gotten a lot of varsity experience they probably wouldn't have gotten on other teams so I expect Agoura will certainly make it out of the cellar and possibly even make a playoff run next season.
I think other than Simi and Royal the field is wide open although at this point I'd give TO an edge over the rest. Summer ball should be interesting but I don't think things are likely to start sorting themselves out until winter ball after the pitchers have had a bit of an off season for development.

Wilson vs Simi will be good. Wilson will throw Aaron Hicks. # 13 on BA Draft list. Right Hander who cruises at 92-93. Hanson, the kid that threw against Norco was only throwing in his 2nd start of the year. He broke his hand early Mar. and has only thrown bullpens until his 2 inning outing the game before Norco
I've seen Simi handle high 80s types pretty easily. I don't know how they stack up against low 90s. My guess is that if the ball is up they'll hit it.
Simi wins in extras.
Guess the Marmonte league is pretty strong.

CADad, gotta hand it to you. Your thoughts and predictions about Simi were right on. Hope you and your son have great summer.
Well Cadad, even if sandler can only throw mid eighties, he still did his thing. three errors on wilson made it tough for hicks. he's the real deal for sure. Take nothing away from hicks and wilson, but simi was a team of destiny. it's hard to pick which game of the playoffs were the pioneer's best, but the mater dei and wilson games were nail biters. talk about karma, raskin forced to sacrafice due to his inability to swing the bat because of being hit by a 95mph fastball on the wrist in his prior at bat, leads to a throwing error on wilson's cathcer and the rest is history...russo's double in the 9th was a bomb. sandler was nails, and the rest of the squad was unbelievable....switching sandler to catcher, russo to the bump, put the pioneers in a good spot to stop their speedster.....Sandler worked the play to perfection....the pick off on hicks at second was not an accident. scouting reports indicated he likes to take big liberties at second, looking for a back pick at second and breaking to third...simi coaches practiced that very play over and over on thursday, just for one opportunity to make it work. had hicks not been picked off, he most probably would have scored and simi would be the runner up. a great game to be sure, a lot of tough kids and a group of returning seniors and juniors that are already looking to make a back to back run in the playoffs next year. next year's starting lineup....sandler at catcher, vigo at 1b, talley at 2b, meyers at ss, zahorik at 3b, keys in cf, tozyinski in rf, neely or jones in left...pitching anchored by sandler, jones, neely and meyers...summer ball will start shortly and after a day of celebration, work starts for the next title....cadad, you know your stuff, good luck...crzy
Congrats to Simi!
Coach in local paper said they worked on the pick 15 times and practice and they just executed what they worked on.
