Our younger son, while college junior eligible, was not drafted.  I'd be lying if I said he (and we) weren't at least a little disappointed.  He's coming off a junior year in the Pac12 with an 11-2 record, 1.60 ERA, very few walks.  2nd team All American by CBN, 1 of 21 Golden Spikes semi-finalists and a Gregg Olson Award finalist.  Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt both have written really nice stuff about him over the course of the season...

Good...no...make that GREAT news is that our son is on track to graduate (probably a quarter early) and we can all enjoy another son's (hopefully) great college senior season!

Its all good.

JBB, sorry to hear about the draft result.  What an amazing year!  Pretty easy to figure there are likely several silver linings for that cloud, whatever they may be.

So why wasn't he drafted?  Answer is pretty easy.  5-10, mid-80's RHP.  Yes, velocity and size matter in things like this.  Its a fact we are well aware of.  I was probably more perplexed by some other players I watched this past weekend not getting drafted.  Sikes Orvis (Ole Miss), John Hochstatter (Stanford) and Preston Morrison (TCU) - 2-time B12 Pitcher of the year and man-oh-man, his low/mid 80s stuff is freakin' nasty!

Great post... The degree is the most important thing. He certainly shut down the U of A early in the season with some nasty stuff.

I'm sorry he didn't get drafted this year because I don't want to watch him shut us down again next year, but I guess that's where we're headed.

I honestly assumed TD would be drafted, though I anticipated a low position where he'd almost certainly return to school since it probably wouldn't make financial sense to leave such a great four-year school.

He shut us (Beavers) down pretty good when he threw, and I personally went to the Ducks game where he dominated them and really put himself on the map, IMO.

I know velocity is a big deal; my business is based around it. But TD is a hell of a pitcher and he's not throwing 80-82. Hopefully with some solid off-season work, he'll gain a few ticks and make a statement in 2015. He's certainly capable of it.
