Nimitz Vikings defeated the Mansfield Tigers last night at Mansfield, 6-4 in the first non-district game of the season. Nimitz starting junior RHP Brian Jones, threw 4 innings to get the win. Jones left the hill after 4 complete innings of work, up 4-1 with 7K’s,  1W and giving up 3 hits to Mansfield. Jones was followed in mid-relief by junior LHP David Wright in the 5th and junior RHP Scott Balfantz in the 6th and 7th.

That was a good win for Nimitz, even with Mansfield's 5 errors. And that was not a non-district game. It was on the schedule as a scrimmage.  Nimitz has a lot of talent. Good luck this season.

Lefthook, that's what I thought going into the game. A scrimmage. Then Mansfield is dressed out in what appeared to be regular season uni's. A fellow from the Tigers media box stated non-district games began that day and the game ended up going only 7 innings.

I was sold.

Best of luck to Mansfield this season.

You are right, your district is better.  Does that mean we should not be allowed to talk amongst us?  I don't get it.

Facility has always been top notch. We all got spoiled playing on that field... As far as the coach, I think Fahey is solid. I played ball with him and know he knows baseball. Shoot, his whole family does. Not sure the reason he let the pitcher get so high in pitches though. I'm sure he was keeping close eye on the kid and talking to him after every inning though. I have been out of touch with the program for quite some time now, but when I peek in on them, I see they aren't what they/we used to be years ago...

I deleted my post...didnt want to have the thought that i was throwing their coaches under the bus...they had their reasons for doing what they did and I am not qualified to understand the approach so i will let it be. They traditionally have some solid pitchers there but not normally enough bats to really help them out.

Let's be honest.  Duncanville is not what it once was because, like Cedar Hill and Grand Prarie schools, it has lost many of its top baseball players from white flight.  They have the athletes, just not enough developed players at the high school level to overcome this exodus of white players/families over the last few decades, (who are the vast majority of players that are playing high level select baseball in the years prior to going to high school).  However, basketball and football programs remain solid.  .

White flight and others(all ethnic groups) seeking smaller class sizes, better instruction and lesser taxes.  Kids there obviously have the athletic ability but they would rather be like Mike...Jordan instead of Young.

Duncanville dominated for so long since they were the only high school in town I tend not to feel sorry for them the heartless s.o.b. i am...I went to Nimitz in the 80's. :-)

Most of your neighbors fit in that catagory monkey, and class size is not the issue.

The four Fs is what I heard.  Football, failing, fighting and females.

What's wrong with Football? Have seen several great players play multiple sports.

Blake Brohm was starting DB for WF Rider last year, and signed with OK St. for baseball. Just one of several athletes talented enough to play more than one sport.
