I agree, Parker and Estrada have done a great job for Liberty this year. Looks like Parker handled Frisco this past weekend pretty well. 1-4 in the line up was 1 for 12 with no walks and 3k's... On the flip side looks like walks are killing Frisco right now, at least the stats in Dallas Morning News make it look that way... We will see how round 2 goes.... Good luck to all teams!
The biggest surprise for me with Liberty has been the offense. Not sure what the production was last year but it appears to me they are hitting much better this season. Last year they totaled 3 runs in two games against Centennial, and they racked up 12 in the first game this season.
As of today Dallas Morning News has total team walks allowed for this district as follows:
Wake - 52
Cent - 60
Lib - 49
FHS - 85
CV - No data..

Are those district pitching stats or cumulative of the season? I would highly doubt Frisco has that many walks for District play!
I checked and it looks like season for all teams.
Dallas Morning News does not breakout district stats but if you look at season walks allowed for each team's normal district starters wakeland is exceptional in this stat and not surprisingly 7-0 in the district. Once again these are season stats for each 1 and 2. I would suggest the primary reason for Liberty's improvement has as much if not more to do with substantially improved pitching. Just an observation.
Nixon/Schwanke 9 walks
Bethard/Achley 27 walks.... Hill (8) Not sure who the number 2 is at this point??? (8) not included in the total...

Halfway through district play now and about what was expected, except Liberty jumping up to take a top 4 position from Frisco. Expect the top 5 to battle to the end and who knows what order they finish. Gotta remember that all anyone has accomplished thus far is a split. Surprises are bound to happen before May.
NS over Liberty qualifies as one of your surprises.
Surprised no.......SHOCKED yes!
Centennial - 7
Creekview - 0
WP - Bethard
LP - Guay
Bethard pitched complete game with 16 K's.

Early predictions were dead on for district standings. Liberty will probably get the 4th spot but other than that no surprises. The question now becomes how the teams match up with the teams from 10-4A?

Pretty much, but that fourth seed may be decided in the final game (Liberty @ Frisco). The 10-4A teams have played well and will be tough matchups. Expect them all to be pitching duels, especially if one game series.
IMO Centennial, Creekview, Liberty, and even Frisco if they make it should flip for a single game playoff. Honestly, I think Wakekand should consider it. We have one of the most dominant pitchers in the area and even though Nixon is superb, why not use them as a 1-2 combo all the way to state? Assuming we could get the single game series-- I'm a little confused as to the process of how all that is decided.
As I understand it, if the two coaches do not agree on a 3-game series, theN they flip for it.

Fixed it for you, Creekview has also locked up a spot. While Frisco and Liberty are 6-6, they play each other in the final week. Could be a knockout game for the 4th spot.
This is what is at stake for the last game.
Wakeland (13-0) 1st seed - vs. RL Turner no bearing on last game
Centennial (10-3) 2nd seed - vs. Heritage no bearing on last game
Creekview (8-5) 3rd seed - vs. Newman Smith no bearing on last game
Here is where it get's interesting
Frisco (7-6) vs. Frisco Liberty (6-7) for the 4th seed - if Liberty wins the game they should advance even though they would both have (7-7) district records due to the fact that Liberty would have beaten Frisco in both meetings so they would win the head to head. If Frisco wins - no question they are the 4th seed.
Good luck to both teams as we know many kids on both squads.

Sorry - just noticed if Frisco wins and Creekview loses then they would have to figure out 3rd and 4th place since they split their conference games.
If Liberty beats Frisco, Creekview would be 3rd with their record.
