I remember reading this story this spring and thought at the time..."Man, what a kid".
Then, as luck would have it I had the opportunity to meet this young man a couple of weeks ago as he plays on my son's fall team, trying to get back into the full swing of being a baseball player.

While Hooty is still a bit weak, he works harder than any player on the field. Hooty is a catcher and you can hear the distinct sound of a coaches commands when he calls out bases to throw to or plays for defensive situations.

Hooty is always supportive of his team mates and is always smiling. He never backs off during the teams marathon 3 hour practices in the KC heat. My youngest son thinks Hooty is an awesome young man, and I agree with him.

A lot of people get to hear about bad things with baseball, this is a success story at the purest level.
