My son is a HS Freshman this year - That's a Good Thing...

He made the Baseball team - That's also a Good Thing...

He has won the Starting Varsity RF position this year - That, considering my meager abilities, is an amazingly Good Thing...

His Baseball Season starts today - That's a really Good Thing...

God decided to water the lawn in this part of the country for the last two days to the tune of about 4 inches - I guess [Bite's lip] that's [Bite's lip harder] a Good Thing too...

But waiting until Friday for the next game??? - That's a REALLY HARD THING....for Dad.

Hey Jax -

Consider yourself lucky that you are in season.

Virginia just opened up tryouts this week and games are a month away.

Those further north and in the Midwest aren't even close to playing yet, I beleive they have a few more weeks.

Congrats to your son for making the team..lots of fun and memories on the way!

Justmom,
Just curious but why the holdup? Is it the weather?

Knowledge is Power! Thank you Mavens and HSBBWEB!
Thanks gang. The chest is definitely sticking out a little further these days. (Gut too, but that's another matter.)

BTW Chicks, didn't I see where your son had a 3-for-3 with the game winning hit in one of those? Congrats to him and the Gators for the Top 20 ranking.

Thanks Jax,
It was the bottom of the 7th, tied 5-5, two outs and man on 1st and 2nd, count 3-1, and then he hit it to left field to score the run.
Very nice write up in paper

Jax,

Congrats to your son, and I know it must be SO HARD to wait for his debut! But if it makes you feel any better ...

... we still have about a foot of snow on the ground, and probably a bit more yet to fall between now and the first practice (March 15). My son is an 04 RHP, but when he was a soph he was scheduled to be the opening day varsity starter 3 TIMES in early April ... each time the games were cancelled because of wet fields ... one was a fresh snowfall, other two were rain. Very hard on a young pitcher's nerves! (And even harder on his mother!) Big Grin
Chicks -

It has to do with the weather to a point.. We are know to get some storms in February and large portion of VA is in the mountains so they get more than we do in this area.

Also, schools don't start here until after Labor Day so that pushs the Fall and Winter sports to a later starting date. Spring sports start the last week of February with games starting late March. The season ends in June usually around the 9th or 10th, right before graduation.
