Good take on it. I especially like what was said at the end of the article about the effects on recruiting in college down the road being geared toward a more all-around athlete that can run and play defense. I think a defensive catcher will be a hot commodity too.
Brian Jordan, ex-Brave, Cardinal and Atlanta Falcon, was part of the announcing crew at a recent Gwinett Braves game. He took pre-game BP with the team using one of the BBCOR bats.
He said "they were really bad" and didn't perform at all like the old metal bats (no kidding).
I heard a Stat the other day; at the season half way point HR's are down by half. Last year there were 273 shutouts thrown by mid-season, this year - 444!

In my lowly opinion, it's a good thing for the game.
Of course the natural progression is to go wood. I think if you asked the majority of pro scouts they would agree.
The question is, do college coaches think this way?
