OK obviously the Fire Ants are good, but can someone please tell me how that is the team name? My son happens to play on the Fire Ants, and I too was skeptical of the name in the beginning. Here's the story. His coaches are from East Texas, and they had a big fire ant problem there. They considered them to be an irritant and hard to get rid of. So, hence the name. This team has overcome many obstacles, with injuries, vacations, school orientations, etc. Not to mention the fact that no one has heard of them. They do get jabs at times for being called the "Fire Ants," but like my husband says, "it could be worse, you could have just got beaten by the Lady Bugs!"

I bet it adds a slightly better taste when they win.

I'm looking at the 17s website, the 17 Tigers played the Fire ants today and lost 3-2... but it has them playing the Fire Ants again twice tomorrow at Jesuit. I'd like to formally apologize for the fields condition before anyone comments on its horrible dirt, pitchers mound, and batters box.

The woman on the news was a mother of a boy on the A's-Allen team during a game today in Fort Worth. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. The heat is not only an issue for players but the parents and fans. We wish her a speedy recovery!

Concerning the Tiger-Fire Ant game: it was not lost on the throw to third. There were a number of things that contributed to the loss. The Tigers had opportunities to put more runs on the board early and didn't get them across. The Fire Ants also made a couple of diving plays on outfield line drives to save a few runs and take away some hits.

Just one of those games where the ball didn't bounce our way. We'll see how things go today. You can't ever blame a game on one play, or player. The error was just how one run scored.

Lastly before somebody asks or posts the question, no my son was not at third or behind the plate at the time. It doesn't matter who was at either place.

That was fun. It looks like Junior’s knee is fine. He is not having problems. He said it popped on him while rotating his hips during his swing. He said it stopped his rotation.
