Let me follow up on Catcher’s comment about Coach Chris Anderson being one of the good guys left in coaching.
In a word, he’s truly the kind of coach that most every parent would want their son playing for. He’s positive, a great athlete, knowledgeable, a fantastic game coach & strategist, and a master at using ALL his players and getting the most out of each one.
And while this Frozen Ropes team is not physically intimidating, they’ve become a team of very talented players who play great fundamental baseball, believe in themselves and their coach, and find ways to win.
So congrats to ALL the players and teams in who played in this AABC tournament and to the parents who showed their support. And special congrats to Coach A and his Frozen Ropes team!
Isn't there a bit too much love in here for you all?
Somebody start a fire and get out the marshmellows.......

I'm thinking DBAT should hire back Coach Pat Leach.

Oh great.
Are we going to see you with a scorebook in the Frozen Ropes dugout now?
Either way, I think with the new presidential election Texas will allow same s e x marriages.
Will we be seeing Thorton & Fuqua announcements?

Nice thought, Ken, but I'm quite happy in my quasi-retirement with Mrs. GM. Doing some vacationing this summer instead of sweating away in dugouts across the country.
By the way, DBAT 16 won the MM Qualifier championship over Frozen Ropes 16.
Congrats to Dillon and gang.

Yes, you're missing something. Perhaps Cade's cabana man can fill you in.
Gut, this cabana man (Steinbrother) terminated your contract, keep it up and I will have your pass word terminated.
Congrats to Frozen Ropes-Anderson!
Very impressive tournament win!

Brother Please...........
The only thing you know about contracts is when Cade tells you.....
"Here's your roster. Now go copy some contracts and get these kids to fill them out."
McKinney Marshals win the South Texas Sliders 16U tournament over the Austin Slam in San Antonio. We will be at the MM WSQ next week and look forward to battling our metroplex friends...have a great week yall.

Thanks Retired GM! How many showcases have the young guys been to yet? Have there been as many scouts out to see them as there were with those D-BAT teams? I figure you were all over it just to make an impression on Guthrie and Steinbrotha!
Catcher...congrats to the black and yellow/gold! Hope to see them this weekend (maybe not another 10 inning one though... )

Catcher thanks for calling me on the lake while I have a big bass on the line and you didn't call me back. Check your PM.
This site has turned into nothing but coaches, ex coaches, and wannabe coaches.
Hell, I'm sticking up for the parents now.
You clowns get ready.

Yep Ken you are a parent now, join your friends.
mustangs carpenter may have intentionally pitched their guy over the limit. sam knows the rules and how many innings each guy pitched. not only that, as host it is his job to compile the innings for aabc texas and report them to the director. not to mention as tourney director he had to report the infraction to himself, then to the aabc north director. they may have lost on purpose because the qualifier winner picks last or next to last on pick up players and the regional host picks ahead of the qualifier winner.
secondly, rosters are frozen when you win a qualifier. lone star hasnt turned in official rosters yet and we all know carpenter is a master manipulator on those roster moves. every league in texas has turned in official rosters except lonestar. http://www.aabctexas.com/Rosters.htm
bottom line is, carpenter has been doing this a long time and winning at it. he has a good reason for his "oversight" we are just speculating on it.

The first thing I want to complain about as a parent is.............
Why is Auggie cussing so much on ESPN right now?
I would never let my son play for a guy like that.
All he cares about is his own success and embarasses the players.
I'm starting a booster club to get him fired.

Not true, offical rosters are not due until July 1, 2008.

I think that is the key phrase...I would speculate that they are actively looking for for more players to qualify before 07/01.... IMO ...
There are a lot of teams/players from the west not playing AABC this year!

So if we assume the said team intentionally broke the rules to purposely forfeit a game.....
Than my question is why enter the tournament?
Either
A. They didn't expect to win
or
B. Had a plan if winning the tournament was a probability.
My next question would be......
Does this promote character within the game?

DM-Carpenter actually beat MM but decided to forfeit the Championship game since they already qualified.
In the "Lets take Fathers Day Off Game", Marshals Ostroff beat Mustangs Sambo tonight 3-2...Both teams enjoyed a Sunday off yesterday...This is the strangest summer in a long time...
Well, they didn't actually forfeit the championship game. They forfeited the semi-final. And they haven't actually qualified for anything. But there is a good chance that they will become the regional host team and have roster spots available in the event that they win the trip to Farmington.
Concerning character, I don't think anyone is questioning the Mustangs character -- I am not. They did not make a travesty of the game by rolling over in an intentional loss. They just had a plan....or multiple plans.

Odd summer indeed -- catcher, are the Lone Star standings available anywhere?
Catcher - wouldn't DM-Carpenter have played Marshals Hadeler (Black 17 team) had they met in the semi-final game (Father's Day Game) rather than Marshals-Ostroff (Gold 17 team)?
Either way that is a nice victory. Congrats!

cheapseats....
DM Sambo beat our "BLACK" or "Hadeler" 17U team. Marshals "Ostroff" is our "Gold" team that was out of the tourney on Friday...
PDIDDY-Shoot me an email, and I will shoot you the standings when they come out next monday morning...

catcher - I edited my post to be more politically correct
Your a good man cheapo!
Shayne - if the Marshals finish first in Lonestar will they be the CM Regional host team?
John,
No.
Our 18U team will finish its season in Cincy,OH at the 18U PWS on July 20. Our only shot at the CMR was last weekend at UTA. Our 17's are busy that weekend as well.

I hate to hear that the Marshals players will not have the opportunity to get to Farmington....the CMWS experience is the thrill of a lifetime.
....and the food ain't bad either!
Maybe next year...

Assuming you don't forfeit a game on purpose,
It's sad when a situation is manipulated as such.
But hey, it's to be expected these days.
If I was coaching still, AABC would be getting a phone call or phone calls from me until something was done.
Enjoying my summer regards,
OMG
Look at all this good stuff Ive been missing. I can't believe the tangled web here.
Sam tanks on purpose. Guthries speaking his mind. PD actually saying what he thinks. Dbat GM chimes in without DBat commercial. Baseball is on the brink of greatness in the metroplex.
Its just a shame I missed it.
