Seth is ridiculously good. I can't believe college pitchers have to deal with him for two more years.
Definitely an early frontrunner for the 2018 first overall pick.

He is special, however he needs to develop other skills. He is mature for his age, and a work in progress. I don't think it was about being a first pick.
Was with his dad up at Clemson. We had some good discussions about the draft and pro ball. Wish you all could have heard it. Here is a player that could have been drafted quite high but wanted to avoid earely life in mil, realized how much better growing up in college would serve him, especially being part of a team and making friends for life, better exposure, and better life in general for the next 3 years. And Clemson was his dream school.
Son likes him so very him, he is so not about "me" , but about the team, that's not always how it is with young phenoms. Whatever he is told to do, he does, graciously. That's special too.
I met him after one game, such a respectful young man.
Go Tigers!!!
Taking nothing away from this very (very) talented individual, who also apparently has an excellent head on his shoulders, but I was wondering what his earlier "career" looked like given his age. PG has him turning 20 in late summer, so some comments that he really should have been playing his senior year in high school don't really make sense to me. I tried to pull up his PG events to see if he ever reclassified (PG has him showing class of 2015 - I assume this is the only way they could really input the year) but could not get the past events to pull up. Based on PG's class of 2015, he is showing as 18 yrs 8 months for the 2015 draft - that in itself would be old for 2015 draft. If he were a 2016, he would have been 19-8 at draft date - certainly one of the oldest high school players I have run across. Was he eligible to play high school baseball in the spring of 2016?
I have commented about ages in the past, but after looking at this instance, not sure if I have confused myself.
Seth was at our National Showcase last year in June. He was a 2016 grad at that time. He later reclassified and started at Clemson early. He was very old for the 2016 HS class.
He has always been an outstanding hitter and played for the Canes. Also a great kid. It wasn't all that surprising to see him start off so well at Clemson.
I was able to track down an old PG article (2012?) that said he was an olympic caliber swimmer but gave that up to pursue baseball. I assume swimming may have played a role in his early schooling and would say that he was not ancient as a 2015 grad, but the 2016 grad year had him really, really old. Not sure he would not have aged out of of the high school rules for athletic participation (I think a lot of states require you to be under 19 upon start of the school year).
I apologize for harping on age, but found this situation to be exceptional. That said, you certainly cannot argue results. Sounds like he had a neat childhood and had to make some pretty big decisions early on. Looks like he made the right decision.
When I first met Seth Beer's dad Mike, we were shooting the breeze getting to know each other. Work, family, etc. I asked about other children, and he told me they have a daughter named Anita.
I felt my face contorting when he told me that, and he let me suffer for a second or two before laughing. I fell for it big time.
I don't know him personally but know people that do and they all talk about how great of a young man he is. I've said it before but he's the best young hitter that I have see with my own eyes...just an uncanny ability for barreling up everything.

They've since had a second daughter and named her Ivanna.
My son was out with him yesterday up in RD, shopping of all things. He sends me a snapchat and it shows Seth sitting outside Urban Outfitters on a bench on his phone. Ryley said, Dad, this is the only kid i know who has to stop shopping/hanging out to do a radio interview. I second all of the above comments, Ryley says he is awesome to hang out with and is always thinking of the team first. I know he is impacting Ryley as a friend and a teammate and i don't mind that a bit.
Whats kinda funny is...when Seth got to Clemson in January he met Ryley and was like, i really thought you were going to be a D*&^%$bag, but you are really cool. Must have had to do with that 1 hit, 7 inning CG shutout Ryley threw against them his Sr year. They were #1 in the country at the time and the fans were RAUCOUS!
There is now a lot of talk about him being the frontrunner for first overall. He is just hitting huge seems to be another bat like Bryant or schwarber.
Some say athletically he is more of a 1B/DH guy and not really solid in an of corner but if his bat is that huge he still could go top3 even though most teams now prefer more versatile up the middle kind of players.
Met's will take him with first 2018 pick. Just to have two of their fans sitting side by side in their Met's jerseys.
Tebow----Beer
I doubt the mets will be bad enough to get him in the draft
