Hi, my son is a juco sophmore and think he is done growing. He is slight 5'8" 125lbs. Fastball is 83-84. How much velocity can he add if he were to gain 20 lbs of muscle in the next year. Thanks

Freakpop, Im not an expert here, but just adding muscle mass is not going to increase his velocity. In fact it could actually do the opposite. Adding muscle mass in the wrong way can have an adverse effect on a pitcher. I would suggest searching out things like the throwers 10 workout. If he hasn't worked a velocity program using long toss and weighted balls that might be worth looking into as well.
I'd recommend you look at http://www.baseballvelo.com/

I would look at things like Eric Cressey's stuff, and Driveline's Hacking the Kinetic Chain material (which, IMO, is the best single book on how to gain velocity). http://www.drivelinebaseball.c...cking-kinetic-chain/

I hear what you are saying about adding muscle. I could understand if he was already 175 lbs, but he isn't he is 125 lbs and skinny as a toothpick with an incredible arm. His college coaches have had him in the gym, so it's not like he doesn't what to do. I'm just simply asking if adding muscle to such a skinny frame will increase velocity? Because he is so light, I almost have to believe that his velo would increase.
