Hurt rotator cuff sophomore-junior summer so I had to go to a physical therapy session. They gave me exercises that strengthened my shoulder a lot and I just came back throwing harder.
Figured i would contribute as well...using May 1st as a b-day cutoff:
2018
9th (14yrs 10mths): 5'11, 145., 73 mph
10th (15yrs 10mths): 6'0, 155., (Broke pitching hand during 1st scrimmage soph year; out for spring, but hit 80 in late July)
I believe the bdays play a huge role when looking at data concerning velo increase though. Increase can be greater between 9th-10th for older underclass, greater between 10th-11th for younger underclass, etc.

Interesting stuff Clipper. A lot has been said in the last few years about shoulder strength and velocity, specifically the rear deltoid, which act as the brakes for the arm.
The research says that the body knows not to let the arm go faster than the rear deltoid can handle.
You probably know that from your therapists though.

Yo, 2020dad....are you seeing this????????? Nearly the same size with an 8mph jump...*cough-cough*
2020 I kept a book on every player I coached in HS for several years. I would write down their HT WT 60 time and velo. I would give them a copy of it when they graduated. I found it very interesting. I will see if I can find it and I will post the raw data. I kept my catchers pop times the same way. It was always fun to look back on. My son was a catcher. He started getting his frist offers the summer after his soph year. Just off the top of my head without going back to look at my old notes:
Fresh - 6'0 200 - 80 2.1 60 - 8.0
Soph - 6'1 210 - 82 2.0 60- 7.7
JR- 6'2 225 - 87 1.95 60-7.4
SR- 6'2 220 - 89 1.91 60- 7.2

Agreed. Let's go with that
I was thinking that including the summer after the school year made some sense even though I used high school #' (would have been about the same anyway). I think a lot of people don't have velocity numbers outside of Perfect Game tournaments or are going by what they've heard or guesses for Spring numbers.
How about for me?
my son's freshman year - 5' 11" / 235 / 60mph
my son's sophomore year - 5' 11" / 250 / 55mph
my son's junior year - 5' 11" / 190 / 50mph
It must have been that weight loss that dropped my velo. Gonna have to work on that.

I get so tired of folks coming on here and bragging about their kids. Now I have to put up with the folks bragging on themselves.
Seriously, I'd be happy with a 25 mph FB if I could drop 60 pounds - would actually be thrilled if I could drop half that. Please pass along your secrets.

Lol! Bacon is the secret. Bacon and steak. Actually, 50mph might be pushing it. The last time I had anyone gun me was when my kid was 10 or 11. Another father and I got into it about how hard we could throw batting practice. In the end, neither of us could top 60. Both of us had been decent high school pitchers. It was an eye opener.
Occasionally, this summer, my son has had no one to throw with and I'll have to go throw long toss with him. It's a bit embarrassing.

Yes , my 2019 numbers are June of freshmen , same as spring , verified by PG and AC . From my experience scouts are using stalkers and jugs haven't seen too many pocket radars , but I do have one and it's off by 1-2 mph and distance plays into factor . The main thing I see that is always off is Pop time . The Dad says he's a 1.85 and the Showcase says he's more like 2.18.
for myself I can never time the poptime , thank god cause I would be telling everyone he's a he's a 1.6 lol
and AC and tryouts tell me he's a 1.9 . Just being honest with yourself is the key to being better . I dont want no one Lieing to my kid pumping up his numbers , cause when the radars are out those numbers are real .
My 2 cents

I hear you. My son brings a bucket of balls with him as he moves further and further away, and when I just stop throwing, he grabs balls from the bucket and throws them to me. Come to think of it, it's not really "long toss" for me at all -- it's more like "medium toss" and then "catching of long toss and dropping the ball into a pile" . . . doesn't have the same ring to it, though, so I'm gong to stick with the idea that I long toss with my son, LOL.

When I long toss with my son, it is sort of like multi-tasking. He gets to make the long toss and then gets to work on his fielding when the ball gets back to him after a few hops. I'll tell my wife that I need real bacon and that the turkey bacon is killing my diet.

I make it to about 120 ft and thats about it...i make him take the bucket with him once he gets past that.

Mine has started getting a workout as he carries the bucket back for each iteration of long toss. I don't even bother trying anymore as he nears end zone to end zone.
I have a jugs gun and use that when he is out of reach. He gets good pop fly and line drive fielding practice that way, as well.

This is what i started doing when my son was about 12. Not because he's some stud, but because with my labrum situation I cannot throw the ball 65 feet without significant arc and pain. I'd bet I can't break 35mph now.

Now that needs to be a topic all on its own. We could add "For baseball players and fans as well, is bacon the greatest food ever?" That way we stay relevant to the site.

Oh dear....proof positive it is the off-season.
August before freshman year: 5'8" 150ish lb, 80mph.
November of freshman year: partial tear of UCL, shutdown throwing and PT through April.
August after freshman year: 5'9" 160 lb, 81mph.

Turkey bacon doesn't even come close although beef bacon is pretty darn good.

Bacon is the greatest food ever. No argument!

Don't ever let a mostly-vegetarian spouse try to tell you the fake stuff (any one of a hundred varieties) "tastes just like" the real thing. We've survived a lot of differences but this one really tested us
