Soul patrol baby, go Taylor Hicks!
Reminds me of somebody up in 'dem hills who can also chunk 'dat tater pretty fast. He doesn't live on WEST COAST either, he lives on EAST COAST. BB knows who it is. Don't tell BB.
velocity= distance/time ???MPH
Shep
Girls are struggling tonight!
I don't know Missouri-BB-Dad...
Personally, I like the Norah Jones look-alike/sound-alike.

Not a great night for the girls... I think Brenna is gone (no loss)...
Someone really needs to sing a Led Zeppelin song..
With the song selections, except for a couple of exceptions, I think it only goes to show that real music that can be performed on stage was written in the past.....except for a country performances.
Let's see...how can I relate this to baseball.
As far as I'm concerned, they all STRUCK OUT last night. Best performance was slightly
above average.
Even though Paula is a "looker" I'd have to THROW HER OUT OF THE GAME-clueless.
As abrasive as Simon is he has probably been AROUND THE PLATE with most of his assessments.
I'm just DOG TIRED of Randy, MAN!

Well, Barry certainly related it to baseball!
I agree with Moc1. The girls do not have it this year. The 16 year old girl is beautiful but her voice isn't quite there. I don't see any Kelly Clarkson's or Carrie Underwood's in this competition.
Simon is by far the star of the show by telling it like it is. Sugar coating may make some feel good, but the real endorsement is when Simon likes you.

just caught the last few posts here...agree totally with Moc1 and ClevelandDad.
When Simon reminds or scolds the competitors to present the total showbiz package he is right on the mark...as tough as it may be...he is telling the truth.

You just gotta love Simon--there is no BS with him
The Pickler girl is great but don't think they'll go with a Carrie Underwood clone two years in a row.
I'm not so sure about that, Missouri. She has a likeability factor that is off the charts. Look out for Ayla though, Simon nailed it right on the head--she will do whatever it takes to make sure she keeps going.
Katherine McPhee sounded really professional tonight and could not even answer the question posed by Ryan Seacreast: "What did you do different that prepared you tonight compared to other nights ?" guess what, she didn't know... Reminds me a great deal how many don't know how they pitch, hit, or run well. PG Jerry made an astute observation down in the Pie Throwing thread in Pitching Forum that said something to the nature of sometimes science seems to take over instead of natural aspects and I agree referring to this comparison even though singing and playing baseball are two seperate things entirely in my comparison. So what ? It's still the same. Sing song...hit ball...Do great singers and hitters "really" know how they do it ? Food for thought. Soul singer Taylor Hicks was also great. Wonder if he knows how he does it ? peace
Interesting point Shep.
Some performers and players are just flat out gifted and just do their thing without thinking. There are also those performers and players that are not so naturally gifted but have worked there *** off to become great. I'm sure we can name many MLB players that fall into both categories.

How much longer do you think "Chicken Little" will remain? He certainly has a certain "quality", but I'm not sure he is an American Idol...
I think it will be Chris, but I sure like Kelly, Katherine, and Bucky, too!

Kellie STRUGGLED Tuesday, but I think it'll be Kevin who gets the ziggy. Thought Bucky did a suprisingly good job with Stevie Wonder, but my wife's only comment was, "How come I can't get my hair to look like that." Had to appreciate the Jessica Simpson "extensions" commment.
Could not think of tougher music to sing than Stevie Wonder music---his music is totally unique unto Stevie Wonder and his unique vocal ability
But many of them sang it well...
And how good was it to see Little Stevie?
Looking forward to tonight!

Little Stevie ????????????
I can't believe that you guys are not watching taped replays of the WCS.
Anyways, I like Katherine, Chris, and Taylor. The first hour was horrible, the second hour was pretty good.
I agree with the assesment that big Steve Wonder is a hard act to follow.

Ok, "Little Stevie Wonder"--
Well, that is how they USED TO refer to him. After watching him last night, I guess no one should refer to him as Little!

Melissa is a good choice to go. You butcher the words to the song, you deserve to get the ziggy.
Kevin Covais shouldn't even be on that stage. He's a nice guy, but....come on. He should be singing at DisneyWorld as one of the Seven Dwarves or something. This is way out of his league, IMO!!
I loved Daughtry's version of Higher Ground - rockin'!!

Krak, I totally agree and he's a local kid.
Enough already, it's becoming a mockery at this late stage of the competition.

I panicked a little when Ace was selected in the bottom three. I like him. Simon was right--his performance yesterday was his wake up call. I'm glad he has another chance.
Kevin has talent, but even more confidence, i.e., his response to Simon. But he is NOT Idol-worthy. Everyone--quit voting for him!!!
If it's any consolation to Kevin, my husband thinks he has a lock on playing the part of a young Rudy Guiliani in the inevitable "The Rudy Guiliani Story."

I expect to see Chris and Katherine in the finals as both have the whole package IMO.
Those are my choices, too. I thought Mandisa had a shot, too, but after Simon declared he thought Katherine reminded him of Kelly Clarkson, I think it will be either Chris or Katherine. I think Chris will be the A. I.
Pick Pickler!!!
Soul Patrol Baby ! Taylor Hicks-Real Deal
Chris rocks!

I enjoy Walk the Line by Johnny Cash very much and, just as with many past remakes, I was prepared to be dissappointed in Chris' version.
He totally floored me with his performance...he showed me just how professional he truly is...Simon was right...Chris has never comprimised...his confidence and abilities have put him in this enviable position.
I don't see him losing this competition...he's just flat out good...soaring above the others.
And as a sidebar...
I, like alot of the contestants, have not been a Barry Manilow fan...haven't paid too much attention to him even though he's been around for 35 years.
But last night, after seeing him work with each contestant, I have to respectfully change my mind about him...he really knows his trade and I have to tip my cap to him.
He wants to continue his career by helping and teaching aspiring singing stars...he's perfectly suited to do this in my mind. I found the spots on last night's telecast that showed him advising each contestant to be very enlightening.
He actually was getting the contestants to revise their approach or style in such a way as to counter most of the judges' criticisms from past performances...especially Simon's curt, but almost always correct, criticism.

Taylor has consistently been my favorite...but have to agree with Woody....Chris' version of "Walk the Line" was outstanding......I was impressed.
Excellent version. Not a Manilow fan myself, but as I"ve said before, if a guy is around for that long and still selling records, there must be more there than meets the eye.
But still.....
PICK PICKLER!!!

Wow...he sure didn't look like he's on 'roids!
OOPS! Wrong Barry...

Bette Midler can tell you how talented Manilow is--he was her musical director in the her beginning days when she soared to stardom
I love Barry Manilow! I'm glad to see he is still making a huge impact. Our local PBS TV station, during sweeps week, broadcast his Las Vegas show recently. It was fabulous.
I think Chris is already the American Idol, although I love Kelly--tarantulas and all!

Daughtry's last two performances (Higher Ground and Walk the Line) could both be Top Ten hits right now in my opinion. Of all the songs I've heard come out of this show, I would REALLY like to be able to hear those two again. The guy's voice is actually unique, and far surpasses Bo Bice from last year -- and look how well Bo did / is doing.
On the other hand, Pickler is really starting to get on my nerves. I adored her in the beginning, but her goofy southern-girl act is getting really tiresome. Sorry, I know she has a lot of fans, but........

Considering your neighborhood...there in Korea...Kelly doesn't convey that girl next door image in your mind?
