I do not know how many times we have spoken about how it is more than one person/program that can make things happen for a player but here is an example

A couple of years ago Rob Pincus of the Central Florida Renegaes worked our Binghamton Showcase as an evaluator and there was a LHP there he likeed. The youngster ended up going down to play for the Renegades in 06 and 07--Rob has just informed me that this young man CHAZ MYE out of Western NY has committed to Lake Sumter Community College in Florida.

Congrats to CHAZ and we wish you the best--it just goes to show that if we all work together good things can happen

Also Congrats are due to Rob and his Renegades program for their part in making it happen for CHAZ
I would like to announce here that I have committed to College Selects! I had the JOY of working w/ Tom in Norwich CT a few weeks ago, and got to witness 1st hand how sincerely he cares about the PLAYERS and the FAMILIES. While he has a wonderful relationship with all of the college coaches he has ever come into contact with, they understand that they are not his first priority, the kids are. And for that reason, they keep coming back.

I must say Tom, it is an honor to be a part of your organization and the philosophy with which you run it. 95% of college baseball players will be finished with their last game, and it is the everyday moments that fall in between Day 1 as a freshman and the last day as a senior that matter most. I am proud to be part of a company which understands this.

I look forward to seeing everybody in Binghamton! For those of you that will be there, please come say hello!
Good choice TSfan. Mr Rizzi and his organization does an outstanding job!
Wanted to also say TS I certainly enjoyed the story you wrote earlier this week about you with your son at his first pro ballgame. He must have been really comfortable and felt at home there according to your descriptions and sounded like the next "natural" to me. Glad to have another associate on the board here brother. peace, Shep

De nada Shep. Like I was telling TPM earlier this week, I'm just going to introduce the game to him early and let it take ahold of him in whatever way it does, and if he ends up being the fuzzy purple mascot, then I'll end up buying season tix.

Can't tell you Shep how excited I am to have found this place. I've tried talkin' shop w/ my wife (a former s****r player in college) and that didn't work. Then I tried the conversations in my own head, that didn't work either (I noticed I agreed with everything I said and ended up right where I started). So, I'll throw it out to the all the wolves here and enjoy devouring this game with the rest of you.
PopTime....

If I recall, didn't Rochester and Skidmore split at 2 - 2 in 2006? You can "wink" Wink all you want, but I believe they seem to be evenly matched, at least in 2006 they were!

I sure hope Skidmore has some decent fielders that can handle those "mashed shots" off of those Rochester bats. Those poor Skidmore pitchers. cry

Happy Holidays!!!
PopTime....

I know you were not bragging, but it's o.k. to do so. My son will be playing at Rochester this spring as a freshman!! Big Grin I know your as proud of your son as I am of mine!!!!

I feel that any kid that can baseball, or any sport for that matter in college, has accomplished something. I saw a statistic the other day that showed the current percentages of kids playing baseball in college, and the number is low. How many kids do you know, or I know that played when they were in little league, or high school that are continuing on to play in college. I think our family is pretty fortunate to be able to say that. I know the season hasn't started yet and he hasn't taken the field yet either, and until he decides not to play any more, I'm going to talk about it as much as I can.

Best of luck to your son this year.

State championships, no pressure!!!! Whew, what an understatement. My son was on the summer state championship team between his sophomore and junior year. They had won the regular season State Championship in 04. In 05 they were ranked nationally by Baseball America as high as 15th, and #1 in the state, but were eliminated in the "sweet sixteen" or super-sectionals round. This past spring we were not ranked by BA, our record was 34-7, and were ranked again in Illinois, #1 going into the state tournament. We advanced to the Elite 8, but were eliminated. No hitting (5 hits). The last six games they played, they always scored double digits in hits and runs. Not in that last game (5 hits with a score of 2-1. I was happy that my son got one of the five hits). A real 'nail bitter'!!!

They talk about "no crying in baseball". Not that day. Some people don't understand why they would cry, well these kids were supposed to win state. Bold statement, but it's true. They were that good. They could do it all, pitch, hit, steal, small ball, defense, speed, but not that day. They didn't hit, it's that simple. THAT'S BASEBALL!

You said your son is the only player moving on to play college ball? That's cool! What does he want to study?

My avatar I borrowed from Georgia Tech. I couldn't figure-out how to copy Rochesters and turn it into an avatar.

Well, what I meant was he was PROBABLY the only senior on the team who'll go on to play college baseball. There are a couple of underclassmen who may. As far as seniors, maybe the other captain will play in college, but he's actually a better s****r player, IMO.
btbballfannumber1 - Thanks for the kudos and the link to the article. Like I've told others, for me it was a labor of love on the baseball end, the kid deserves the real credit. Without an outstanding GPA, I don't think Coach Plourde could have got him in.
Just got a note from this young mans Dad---Cameron Gray, RHP from Toronto, has just committed to CHIPOLA Junior College in Florida.

We had the pleasure of having Cam with us in the Fall of 2005---this year Cam was with Team Orlando and Team Canada---he was also invited and pitched at the East Coast Pro event for the Red Sox team

Congrats to you CAM and best of luck---stay in touch as you have
TR,
Thank You so much for everything you have done for Cameron. He really thinks highly of you.

PopTime,

Cameron can not wait to leave the mittins at home. I asked him if he would be coming home for the month of December. His reply was what would you do, take the sun, sand, baseball, and of course girls, or come home to the snow and cold. I think we will coming to Florida to visit him.

Thanks Again
My son, Grier Harrington, from Northwood High School in Pittsboro, NC has verbally committed to UNC-Asheville. This satisfies one of his long time goals of playing in a quality D-I program. He's worked very hard, for a long time, to reach this goal. I'm very proud of him!
I want to thank HSBBW and many of the folks who hang out here. Over the years this site has been a fountian of information and support. Through AAU ball. high school, and showcase play, whenever we needed info this is where we started. I tell all the dads of younger players to use this site as a guide on their son's path in baseball.
Thanks again and see ya'll at the next level!
