My 2022 is booked for the Headfirst camp in Long Island in early August... Baseball Heaven in Yaphank.  We are annual Upstaters, but this will be our first time staying on Long Island.

Can some of you vets provide me some good advice as to where to book a room, etc?  Advice on convenience, price, etc. would be much appreciated.  Sunday check-in at the latest for the Mon/Tues camp....

This is a lot about what you want to spend but then again there is nothing really high end out there.  Also, don't wait to book your room.  My son played at Baseball Heaven for many years and did two head first's there too.   We stayed at Fairfield Inn in Medford a few times.   Very easy onto the highway to BBH in 5 mins max.  It's not high end but much better than the comfort Inn next door.   You will see the college coaches in both these hotels but they are usually trying to be incognito.   I 100% would recommend Springhill Suites in Yaphank, it's half a mile from baseball heaven and probably about 5 years old will sell out fast.  Again not high end but certainly more than good enough for a baseball weekend.  It's the closest to the facility.  If you don't book early enough you will be out by MacArther airport which is not bad or over in Stony Brook in the Holiday Inn Express which is fine but quite dated.   The rooms fill up quickly.  Now for the one question you didn't ask, where to eat - my recommendation is Cafe Gia.  Very good, reasonably priced Italian just around the corner from the facility.  Good luck at Head First!  It's the best run of the bunch in my opinion too.

Oh - 100% avoid Jakes 58 Casino Hotel.  May sound like fun but run away.  used to be a good decent hotel about 20 mins from BBH when you were late to book but since it became a casino (slots only) its impossible to park, loud and filled with smokers.

What is your favorite budget chain?  Mine is Hampton Inn. They are all the same, even overseas.  There is one near Baseball Heaven, so that's where I would stay.

Avoid the Hampton Inn.  One year our catcher left his gear in his mom's car and someone broke the window and took everything.  Yes, that is a rookie mistake but still.  There is not a ton of crime around that area but the Hampton Inn is right off the LIE, easy on and easy off and they took Luke's stuff, not cool.

My wife thinks I'm paranoid for always bringing our son's gear bag into the room each night....

When we were at HF in Sacramento, staying at the Hyatt Place where a teammate had his gear stolen a few years back, my kid went to the car to retrieve his gear and somehow managed to lock my keys in the back, which of course we didn't figure out until it was time to load up the  next morning.  Talk about a rookie mistake!

@NotMadeOf$$

I seemed to remember staying at the Fairfield Inn. Not too far away and breakfast was included.

Now an even BETTER tip for you. Though you may not be" Made of $$" make sure you bring extra -- for gasoline!! Not sure if it is the same today as about 5 years ago but the difference in paying for gas cash vs credit in Baseball Heaven area was about 50 to 60 CENTS PER GALLON!! Before I pumped I went into the service station just to verify what was posted (oh so small lettering) on the pumps. It was accurate. I promptly paid in cash. I found out it wasn't just that one gas station either. Have fun at HF!
