My recollection from last year is Churchland shutting out First Colonial in the first round and battling Nansemond River closely for 6 innings. I don't think Great bridge and Nansemond River will expect to just show up to collect their tickest for round 2. The game has to be played.
I just want to thank Diamond Stalker for letting us know that the SE and Beach districts are better than the Eastern. Would have never figured that one out. But comparing the Eastern to probably the best district in the state is kind of unfair.
If I remember correctly, the last time the Eastern District and the Southeastern District met in the first round of the Eastern Regionals was 2009. Indian River played Granby, and Western Branch played Maury? I believe that Maury was favored in that game. Be careful what you wish for!
