They were also there to see Brandon Loy (UT signee). We counted 26 scouts in all. Most I have seen this early in the seaon. I thought both teams did well for the first scrimmage of the year.
I DON'T SEE WHERE ROCKWALL WON OR LOST OR WHERE PLANO WON OR LOST, THE FIRST FOUR INNINGS PLANO SCORED HOW MAY RUN'S, HOW ABOUT 0 AND ROCKWALL SCORED HOW MANY 5, AND I SUPPOSE PLANO HAD THEIR 3RD OR 4TH STRING PITCHER ON THE MOUND AT THAT TIME.WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS THAT BOTH TEAM'S PLAYED WELL FOR THE CONDITION'S AND THAT THEY BOTH SHOULD BE PROUD OF THEIR TEAM'S AND BOTH HAVE A EXCELLENT YEAR TO LOOKFOWARD TO.
touchy are we...They actually had their Freshman pitcher or one of the 8th grade pitchers... Big Grin
If you get spun up on something like this you are in for a long season on the boards.

Lighten up and on the left side of your keyboard there is a key called "Caps Lock" press that key.
It will remove the upper case letters you type with, which is also known as yelling..

Plano beat Rockwall tonight 17-9! Man it was cold.

Any details? I wasn't able to make the game Frown . Heard our pitching held early but fell apart later on. Sounds like Plano hit the ball good.

Well, it was really cold and windy so it took a while for the kids to warm up, but once both teams did it turned out pretty well. Rockwall had some really good quality pitchers, I was pretty impressed with some of them. Plano pitching didnt get off to a good start but then they turned it on. Not every plano pitcher pitched, lucky for yall! Wink... jk. but it was still a good game. The kids from both teams looked cold but they both look good.

Common mistake by us parents is to read too much into the outcomes of these scrimmages. I am certainly guilty of this. Obviously, you can take the general pulse of the teams (how did they hit, field and pitch). However, just as preseason Cowboy games mean very little, the same can be said for these scrimmages. I witnessed our coach insert players at will throughout the game. Many of our non-starters got significant PT. In key moments, the hitter you really want at the plate (and the one that would normally be at the plate) is often riding the pine or taking cuts in the cage. Besides evaluation, I think these coaches see this as an opportunity to head off the "down the road PT issues". In other words, throw the non-starters a bone when it doesn't matter. Whatever the reason, true outcomes are dramatically altered from both sides. Game flow is certainly disrupted. Scrimmages are great and definitely needed to ease into the season but we really can't take too much from them.
