Obviously, I have not played baseball for years, but I have three casual observations:

1. Every shoe made today is a great shoe compared to 30 years ago. Some are simply more expensive than others.

2. I could never tell the difference between patterns of cleats and still can't with golf spikes.

3. Converse All Star Chuck Taylor's will forever be the coolest shoe ever manufactured.
bkekcs, Ringor's are all they are cracked up to be. They are, next to the Akadema spikes the lightest and one of the most durable shoe on the planet, I've had two pair since I was a Soph in HS, and that was in 1990.

The design, does not put any pressure on the ball of the foot, which means as a player you're feet are not dying after a long game.

Both of my sons wear Ringor cleats and love them. A bit more expensive than others, but these are the first cleats that they have ever been able to wear for more than one season. Also, they both wear custom made orthotics while playing and the Ringor cleats are the only ones we've found that have enough room to allow for a comfortable fit.
I never heard of Tanel cleats, but my son has worn Ringor cleats since 7th grade travel ball and still wears them as a college freshman (although his college team has a deal with Akadema and he now wears that company's cleats for games). The Ringor cleats (rubber molded before high school and metal since) are very light but durable. The traction has been excellent and the cleat pattern appeared helpful in starting, stopping, cutting, spinning, etc. without any catching or other problems.
