Not much you can do for MLB but college and high school needs to switch seasons with football.

Think about it - we are always worried (rightfully so) about football kids getting heat stroke or worse from the July heat wearing all that equipment. Baseball players still need to worry about it but it would be easier to manage than football.

Baseball has to contend with horrific weather conditions (snow, rain, bitter cold) which affects performance and even if you have games. Football can be played in the slop and not really affect the game as much.

Just a thought.
We also played yesterday and my son was as excited as anyone before and after the game which he played in 39 degree weather with 30 mph winds. His comment after the game.....Dad there's nothing like opening day I never felt cold once we started.

Ahhhh baseball is back! And I can't imagine NJ kids playing in any worse weather so it's all downhill from here. Good luck on your season
Oh yes,....2nd game of the season yesterday,
...18-20 degrees, snow flurries with the wind whippin' and howlin'.
Burrrrrr,...quite chilly,
quite chilly indeed!!!
( I hate to admit it,
but with this kind of weather,
it brings the mom-worry-wart in me out.
I do get concerned about injuries.
Cant help it. )

I'll be happy when I can start
complaining again,
about my self imposed,
racoon eyed " baseball-tan "
from my sunglasses!! ha! Cool

Bring on the sun dude!!!

Unfortunately I think we might have a few days to wait until the downhill (warmer) part of the season starts. Forecast for Saturday's game, morning snow flurries and cold. Not to worry, we have a snowmobile on standby to drag the field before the game if the tractor gets stuck.

I know we're like wimps when the temps get hot and we can't breath. It's natures way of adjusting to the environment. It's funny, on Sunday mornings in the winter with single digit temps you can go to the store and see people picking up the eggs, bacon, newspaper and wearing shorts and a winter jacket. The golf season ends up here when it snows and a 40 degree day in Nov/Dec there is a line in the clubhouse. My daughters were going to waterski this weekend but this weather put a thin sheet of ice back on the lake in the shallows. But throw a 100 degree day out there and you'd think the world was coming to an end and we were all going to die

As much as we complain about the snow, when August roles around the water table is at a good level, the reseviors are filled we will look back on this week and call it a blessing.
Baseball and snow go together like peanut butter and jelly up here in the North during the early Springtime. I left work a few years back to watch a hs game in Bay Village which is on Lake Erie. It snowed so hard that you just expected them to stop it. Every time they came close to stopping it, the flurries would let up. Game time temps were in the 20's and who knows how cold with the wind chill factor.
Oh, now you've done it Woody. You are giving out your picture-posting secrets. Minnesota Mom is having fits right now!

It was the Indians hope opener yesterday and that was the good news. Snow delayed the start time a few hours. After each inning or two, they would have to stop because of the intense snow flurries. It was interesting to watch the ground crews. They used leaf blowers to get the snow off the field. Finally, after about four 1/2 hour to 45 minute delays, they postponed the game due to snow Roll Eyes

rz1's and stickwatcher's sons with UIC are in town this wekend to play Cleveland State. I wish I could assure them they'll get their games in this weekend
