I can't pretend to know from experience, but think about any college recruiters and professional scouts you might know. If you have the opportunity to talk with them, ask them how ofter they vacation on the Italian Riviera, and/or take a break from boring old Venice to watch the top prospects from the Mediterranean battle some American high school kids.

Bottom line on trips like this; if its a good price for a family vacation, then take them up on it,but it's probably not the best place to get a scholarship offer (for baseball). If you want to get your sons noticed on a baseball field, try East Cobb, Georgia in July or, if your kids are fortunate enough to get an invite, Jupiter, Florida in October.

Go to Italy for the sangiovese, preferably in the autumn, after you have become an empty nester, and your sons are in the middle of fall baseball at the school of their choice.

No one signed the DiMaggio brothers off a sandlot near the Vatican.
I have been on several trips with the North American Prospects along with several other college coaches from DFW and around the country. They are a great organization and the trip is first class all the way. There are no college or pro scouts in the stands in Europe. Your kids is not going to get a scholarship for going on this trip. It is an opportunity to compete on an international level against teams from several different countries and to interact with other kids from Europe. In addition to the baseball side of things, the teams get to tour all of the major sights in the respective cities. That’s what the trip is about and should be viewed as such. I have been on at least 7 trips with these guys to various spots and they are a blast, but no you are not going to get recruited because of it, unless the team that you are playing for has a coach that likes you. It is not everyday that you get to play baseball in Europe and if you can afford it, it is a tremendous opportunity.

It is in no way a scam. If you have any questions call them directly or call me on my cell at 214-794-3567 and I would be happy to answer and questions about my past experience.

These are not a Scam. My son was invited to go his Freshman year in college. It is not about scouting or recruitment. None of the information even talked about that. It is about the experience. I told him he could go if he raised most the money. I thought it would be a good experience. Go to another country. He is minoring in Spanish in college and thought going to a culture that spoke Spanish would be a good experience.

He chose not to go. He had other priorities for his money.

Do not go if you expect to be scouted or recruited by colleges as a result. If you do you will be sorely disappointed. If you can afford it as a vacation then go otherwise don't.

The website doesn't list any names of the principals involved.  That's a red flag for me. (Maybe I missed it?)

If it's the same place, they have an "F" rating at the Better Business Bureau. (Again, I could have the wrong place - if so, I will delete this line)

I have heard many bad things about some of these types of European baseball/softball trips - I don't know anything about this one however.

I would talk to kids that actually went on these trips to see what the experience was.

This trip/outfit might be great.  Do your homework though.
