With the season around the corner, I broke out my baseball playlist today. It has baseball songs, also songs that we used to listen to on those long car trips to travel tournaments (e.g. "Dream on"), and then Spotify gave me some pretty funny ones I'd never heard. The best is Peter, Paul, and Mary, "Right Field".

There was a point in time when all 3 of my boys were playing college and high school baseball (2 different high schools) at the same time. When I was a kid the Royals would always play Minnie the Moocher by Cab Calloway once during the game. Anytime I hear that song it takes me back to being 10 years old, at a game with my brother and dad.

I grew up in Baltimore County ergo a O's fan and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" still makes me think happy childhood baseball thoughts.

My fav of all time is "Centerfield". When I hear it, it brings back so many great memories of happy times in youth baseball.
"The Greatest" is the greatest.
Hearing "Centerfield" in muzak in the supermarket in January makes me feel that the season is coming.
"Sweet Caroline" reminds me of the crowd singing along at summer league games. I say keep it!

I came across "My oh My" by Macklemore in 2011, my son’s HS freshman year. It was a year or two before the Heist album (I still have "Thrift Shop" and "Can’t Hold Us" on my pickleball play list) – I told my son I really like this guy, and he just rolled his eyes…
