dont see PA over FC as an upset.. PA is much better position for position, They have been very inconsistant at times but look for them to make a statement heading into the tournament!

That's weird, FC has 2 Losses, PA has 6. To say PA is better position by position is a huge stretch.

To say that PA is not better than FC is crazy their infeild is solid and outfield also they are a young team with lots of talent and will go far in the beach tournament.

So what your saying is that they are great players but just lose games because of poor coaching? Or are you saying they lose more games because they are great players who play poorly, not sure where your going here.

What is the deal with the green run record? They have a game Friday and a bye Monday yet they have only played 14 games to date according to the standings...do they have a make-up game?

I dont know whats with the standing listing, but GR has played 15 games. The last one is on Friday against FC. They started the week with a 4-10 record. Lost to Landstown on Monday to make them 4-11.

There have been several games that could have put PA in a good position for going into the tournament but didn't win even against teams that they were supposed to beat. I'm not saying PA is bad by any means, however, they aren't better than FC, just had a good game...which is why anyone can beat anyone!

They have proved that they can beat games that they arnt supost to win and the games against kellam were closer than the score showed the first game between them it was 1-1 through 5.

Coffee is for closers. That is why we play 7 innings and the pro's play 9. Quality, deep pitching and consistant feilding and hitting win games and champtionships, not just a few innings.

No they have not, and the games against kellam Their best Pitcher kept them in the game until Kellam hitters figured him out. PA is OK, not saying they don't have some outstanding players but not enough to be a threat in the tournement. PA, Landstown, Kempsville, and Ocean lakes or green run will more than likely be one and done. Their may be an upset but I just think the top 4 have arms that will dominate.
The tournament has always had some tricks up its sleeve, though.

For example, the top seed sometimes unconsciously takes their foot off the pedal since they've already got an automatic berth in the Regionals. Last year, #8 seed Landstown was thoroughly beating top-seeded Kellam 7-1 I believe before absolutely imploding and ultimately losing. In talking to several of the Kellam boys after the game, they admitted they knew they had the Regional berth already, so it wasn't that big of a deal if they had lost.

Also, there are some matchups that might favor some of those "one and done" teams against the higher seeded teams.

I think it'll be a very entertaining tournament, I'm looking forward to it. I'll be at every game, just find the grill. Wink

I would not count on "one and done" in any of the first round games. Seems to me that the parity has been pretty evident so far this year.
Agreed, Kellam and Salem will both be tough to beat but after that its a toss up! Cant wait to see what happens when the tournament starts!

I beg to differ on the coaching. Coach Stubbe came in after Norbie left and had BIG shoes to fill and has done well other than 1 year! Coach Zell is a good coach but he has had his share of talented teams and came up well short several times in the past. Also, there are many young up and coming coaching that are good, just need some time to prove themselves. Lastly, I will add that OL and Cox are very well coached yearly even though I am an FC guy. I feel you just are looking with one eye open.

Yea right, I remember several years ago Salem did a phantom pregame infield and outfield at the regionals, looked silly as can be with that pregame stuff and then got their teeth kicked in. That was coaching, dont blame the players. FC has put on a great shoing at ODU.

You can't lump OL or GR in w/ PA, Ltwn and Kville. PA, Ltwn & Kvill all have shown that they CAN win but you are correct, not consistant. You can throw Cox in with this group as well and maybe FC. Seems like the only 2 reliables are Kellam & Salem. Lets see? What do these 2 teams have in common? Coaching!

Of the bottom 4 seeds the only team I see capable of upsetting a top 4 team is landstown, if Blankenship can keep it close for 5 inning and then bring in Faison to finnish it off. they have proven they can hit as good as anybody they just need to be close at the end and they have a shot. PA only chance is with the lefty "petey" on the mound but I just dont think they hit nearly as good as Landstown.

That is true regardless of how overwhelmingly good a team is. Let's face it...the Beach is weak this year. Kellam is the strongest and they will have to play very well in Regionals to beat NR or WB. The 2nd team from the Beach will have to play perfectly in Regionals to get to game 2. A lot of people shaking their pom poms on here. I am happy to see so many new posters, though.

There are no dominating arms. They all look relatively the same - decent HS pitchers but nothing more...except for Staskey, Moynihan, Sinnen and maybe McCabe.

I can't wait to see some of these team make some noise in the Beach tourney.
