There are no dominating arms. They all look relatively the same - decent HS pitchers but nothing more...except for Staskey, Moynihan, Sinnen and maybe McCabe.

I can't wait to see some of these team make some noise in the Beach tourney.[/QUOTE]

Agree but I would say the only truly "dominating" arms are Staskey and Sinnen, Moynihan is good but not dominating. Faison can be dominating but he's not a pitcher. I agree, Beach teams are going to have a hard road ahead at regionals, Kellam is capable but in my opinion has yet to play to potential and will need to to advance.

Just mentioning that if Landstown can beat Cox again tonight (and PA wins as well), there will be a 3-way tie for 4th place.

Should be a good game, Seniors Night at Landstown as well for Callanan, Ferrante, Hinton, White and Williams.

Game starts 5pm, ceremony around 4:30ish.
I am back after a 2 week vacation. I went out to the Landstown Cox game and was quite disappointed. Yes the team I follow lost fair and square, but it was ridiculous with the umpires. The game was to start at 5:00pm according to the paper and the beach district website, it did not start until about 5:30? The other team arrived at 4:55pm (not sure why that was? probably a poor excuse of traffic) and the umpires were not even near the field until 5:00pm. I thought it was very unfair to the players of Landstown to sit and wait after being ready and warm for a 5:00pm start. Also, I find it very inconsistant for the umpires to warn the Landstown team for having 2 players behind the fence by the ondeck area, but the entire Cox team was standing behind the fence when it is strictly prohibited, but no warning to Cox, but Landstown warned? It did not cost them the game, walks and hit batters did, but there has to be better umpires around than this. I have witnessed Little League umpires do a better job and some Little League Umpires have never umpired a single HS game. YES I am getting on the umpires. The guy in charge of the umpires should be notified. It was totally uncalled for and Landstown did not even know where anyone was at 4:50pm, including the umpires. Maybe my next 2 week vacation I will be to get my umpire qualification because apparently anyone can do it regardless of what rules the EVOA has in place. EVOA should be ashamed!!!!!! If the Landstown coach does not write a letter of concern he should be canned!QUOTE]Originally posted by bball_lifer:

Most of the time when teams are late it's because they were waiting on an activity bus to pick them up to get there. As for why the umps were not on the field earlier it sounds like they came out once the activity bus showed up. The umps probably were just giving the other team a chance to warm up to avoid injuries. This happens a lot in high school sports.
It sounds like you just need to go back on vacation.
Look at my Feb 20 post! 2nd is not too bad. My scouting report was fairly accurate, even after 1 day of practice!

so I guess the 1 and 2 seeds are now in place for the Beach district playoffs with 3 thru 8 still open? Kellam is 1 and F.C is 2?

So what about Ocean lake and Green Run? if Kville beats OL tonight OL and GR will have same record, who won the reg season? that will be for the #8 spot. if Kville wins and PA and Ltown lose now we have a 3 way tie, Kville could end up as high as #5 seed or stay at #7. getting a little interesting at the wire!

In the 3-way tie scenario, PA still gets #5 because of their win over FC. And I "think" Kville gets #6 because of their win over Ltown in their only meeting (not sure about that).

For the OL/GR tiebreaker, if Kville beats OL, Green Run would be the #8 seed because of their Week 1 win over OL in their only meeting.

How?

Well, let's give credit where it's due. Long pitched a very good ballgame for Bayside. I believe he only gave up one hit, maybe two. And Bayside had a few timely hits as well.

On the flipside, Landstown played a poor game all around. Lots of popups, not very many hard hit balls, and those that were hit hard were either right at someone or the strong wind held it in the ballpark (as happened to Faison). Defensively, fly balls were lost in the sun, fly balls dropped, double play grounders thrown away, etc.

And last but certainly not least, two of their top four players, Blankenship and Hinton, are out with injuries.

Add all that up, you have an ugly loss.

I guess we watched different games. 1 dropped fly and 1 wild throw home are the only errors I saw.

Whomever Landstown's opponent will be, they will have the 10am game on Saturday, since they are the groundskeepers for the tournament.

The other games may switch around as well because of ring dances. No idea which school has a ring dance scheduled, but that's what I was told about the scheduling.
Top 4 players are: Faison, Hinton, Blankenship and a 9th grader,#9. 1 played yesterday that I saw-Faison. I was at the game because I have a friends son who plays for Bayside and it was senior day, the only reason why I traveled way over there. I agree with another members post, you must have watched a different game. Why dont you just tell the rest of the web members the scouting report for each player too, you have posted the injury report, not to mention the tournament is this week, nice judgement!

First of all, Ferrante is one of their top players. While I know you like getting your digs in on him, he is definitely one of the top 4.

Secondly, everyone knows about Landstown's injury situation. Do you think it is a big secret? Do you think coaches don't talk? Don't you think the other coaches already know a scouting report?

Isn't it time one of your other monikers to come out and post?
First of all, I had no clue of the injuries until yesterday at the game and will add I did not find out until I inquired. It is obvious that you are making reference to a player I hardly know other than hearing his name last year at the district tournament. If he is one of their top 4 great because they will need way more than him to win 2 and hope for a Kellam run. I wish them the best because my friends son will hopefully be playing there next year as a transfer Senior from Tx. I guess you know everything Redbird, because after every post, you have an answer to all?? You are not Will Garlick, who is the utmost professional I have ever met!

I am here to monitor the board, including your posts against Ferrante. I am also here to monitor the board for your multiple aliases. If that makes me unprofessional, too bad.
this possible transfer to Landstown must be draft ready now with all the love your giving him. Kid isn't in the state yet and you've given him as much time here as others have given players that actually play in the district. I feel bad for the kid, too much hype. I would suggest cooling it and let his apparent skills talk for him if and when he gets here.
