Well, that pretty much takes all the fun away from calling you out on it.

Im not saying they are the best but I want everyone look out for the HIllcrest Panthers this year. They will easily go undefeated in their district(probably the worst in state), and I think they could give the winner of the 2nd place 9-4a and third place 10-4a a good series and possibly win the series.

They are returning their 5 best pitchers(3 seniors, a junior and a sophomore) and they are lost only two offensive players who will be replaced by up and coming talent.

I know they are DISD and DISD is traditionally terrible but all I am saying is watch out. Yes this is a biased opinion since I am related to a player but I wanna be the first person to get on the bandwagon for this run.

Not sure how HC will do in playoffs, but I wanted to mention that they have an outstanding sophomore centerfielder that could start anywhere in the area to go with their pitching.

Great topic now and all season. Even a baseball fan its hard to keep up with who did well last year, who is returning, who to look out for.

I called the star-telegram and they will put out some articles on hsbaseball next week. Not like years past where they talked about 4-6 teams a day for a week, but smaller articles like who are the top players and teams to watch, maybe talk about returning district winners and the games to watch.
Hopefully, someone will rank teams within the district or area.
I've heard all the expected powers are doing fine -- Heath, Wakeland, HP, SLC, etc.. Here are a few teams I've watched that impressed/surprised me. In 5A -- Plano East, McKinney Boyd, and Naaman Forest. In 4A -- Centennial and Frisco. Tough to evaluate in these early season tournaments due to variances in pitching depth, which isn't as big a factor when district play begins.
I seem to be very disinterested this year as my son's team is not looking all that great. We lost about 8-9 from last year and talent pool is just not there right now. Inexperience is just one word I can use. Its not just our team but the district is weak, our playoff district is not strong this year. Not sure what to think, almost a waste of a season but we have to play it out, hope to improve, hope to get some wins and try to get through our district (god forbid we don't). I love baseball and enjoy watching my son play and will make effort to watch and support our team, currently 0 for 6. Ready for summer ball already, better teams, better ball. Might have to get out for some good games locally, got some good districts with good teams elsewhere.
