It's been a crazy summer and I do apologize to those who have been asking about DK. Rather than take up room here and lots of pm's, I updated my blog that I had abandoned for awhile.
Best of luck to your son. Baseball is a tough, tough game. And even after great success, failure looms constantly. It is good to love every minute of it, as you clearly do. I am rooting for David.
I really don't have to find the porper perspective the player has to, for now, he seems to have found it and he is lucky that he has people behind him that are supportive. Jemaz, you are so right, it is a tough game for sure, for some it gets eaier, for others it doesn't. of course remaining healthy will be the key, as it is for any players success.
Hi! I'm so sorry to hear that DK recently went through the DFA process. Its can be so devastating! The hardest part is wondering what it all means...the sacrifice, hard work, and dedication invested over the years. So glad he stuck with it for now and is finding new hope in the bull pen. The twists and turns of a MLB career are crazy and you never know what opportunity is right around the corner. We know of many players that were placed back on the 40 man and eventually on the 25 either with their original club or another … especially pitchers.
When the season’s over he’ll have time to reflect on everything and be in a better position to make decisions. In the meantime, I pray that God will fill him with a sense of peace and purpose each day. PM if you want to talk. Everything is going to be fine.
Thanks TxMom. He will be ok, it's not the end of the world. They actually placed him on the 40 man in November after his operation for protection from the rule 5. He was not the first to be removed or the last from this season, it's been a rough year for the cardinals. The bottom line is that he has to show improvement, and they were smart they knew that no one would pick him up, it is what it is, they rewarded him for a good 2010 season and he was struggling. Unlike other players that find reasons to get on the DL to prolong the process he didn't want the DL again. I heard that an AL team wanted to pick him up but their roster was full. Can't complain the cards have been good to him. I will send you a pm, hope your family is well.
