Seems like a graceful way out of baseball for him.....but then there are the Feds.....if the story about the grand jury investigation for perjury is true.....there may not be any dignified way out for Bonds....
Baseball brought this on themselves....and they will be lucky when the dust settles if a lot of fans do not elect to move on.....
I don't think it will be the chips, but the CHIRPS (as in being Boo'ed in every stadium in the country) that will finally force him to quit. Was in AZ tonight and he was boo'ed all night. That will not (and should not) change. It will sell more tickets though, but how long can a guy take it? DM
I saw bonds Sunday night at Dodger Stadium. He is done. He looks about 20 or so pounds lighter, moving slow as can be. Hit one to the warning track and looked completely pathetic in his other at bats (i think his average is at about .174).
His godfather, Willie Mays, hung on a year or so too long and it was sad to watch at the end. Maybe he'll give barry some good advice to say bye, bye.
In any event, regardless of all his other problems, barry looks and acts through. He may hang on just to pass Ruth. Can't see him possibly catching Aaron now.
Dont be to quick to say he is through, remember it was just a few weeks ago, when he finished off spring training really strong. I hope they cant find any proof of him taking steroids, Maybe then the whole thing can be forgotten.
In a way im starting to like what Mcgwire did last year when he told the court he was here to talk about the future not the past. You cant change the past!
