They beat the Yankees 15-5 in their home opener after a long pregame AL banner hanging ceremony. This team is no fluke. The Yankees aren't a bad team either, but obviously not in the Rays catagory. W ang probably needs to be sent down to get his mojo back and they are lacking Arod and Texiera. They will get better, but I don't know who is as good as the Rays.

As a Yankee-Fan who lives in Orlando, I can tell you that the entire culture of The Rays has changed. The Trop is no longer Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park-South. The Rays fans are there in droves now, with their cowbells!

They are so "For-Real", it's incredible... IMHO, Longoria is such a GREAT player, even as a 2nd-year player. I'd even say he's probably the best 3rd-baseman - defensively - in the American League. They have SO MUCH team-speed, that it's really tough to compete. Just think they when they bring Price back up from Durham, and their loaded farm-system, they'll be contenders for years to come...
Why is Teixeira sitting with just a sore wrist? Is this guy for real? For those who followed him in Texas and LA, I have a question:

Is Teixeira a soft player or what? IMO, from what I'm getting out of it, he is. Not good

Teixeira better man-up or else he's gonna hear it. No way he should be sitting unless he's injured.

At least Arod with a torn hip who still needs more surgery is busting his hump to get back in the lineup and Swisher is out there chucking innings.

I like this Swisher character. Perfect fit for NY.

Teixeira on the other hand, the jury's out on him.

I would venture to guess Tex is pretty banged up to not be in the lineup. Remember, the season is 162 games, not just 1 series.

I like the way Swisher gets after it - hard and with a smile on his face.
I like the Rays. The key whether you think they are for real or not is their pitching - will that hold up like it did last year. If so, they are obviously contenders again. I wonder if people in their early season excitement are counting on Longoria hitting five homeruns every week. At that pace, that would give him about 110 for the year.

The Swisher you see on the field and the one in the clubhouse are two completely different people. There is a reason the White Sox had no interest in keeping him around...wait 'till they sit his .240 hitting butt and he's not playing and pouting and moping around...

I don't see Swisher as an everyday player and he's not gonna hit like he is now. He's definitely an upgrade from what the Yanks have had the last few years though. Plus he can play a lot of positions and with guys like Damon who break down quite often, Swisher might be playing more than just some pinch hitting.
