To go from a varsity starter to JV benchwarmer something unusual had to have happened. Put anyone in this situation and it would be hard to find reasons to stay with the team.
I understand the OPs reluctance to identify his high school but unless we have more information our comments are not very helpful. Therefore it's very hard to advise or judge this particular player IMO.
We have 3 pitchers on one HS team like your friend (and one is LH). I don't see what's so unique.
fillsfan,
I believe that you have misinterpreted what the big mac intended to say.

I feel that we do know enough about the situation to give advice. It appears that the player is considering entering college early in order to avoid a unsatisfactory situation. I would urge him to only enter college early if he saw strong positive aspects to doing so. My reading of the situation is that the only obvious reason to enter college early is to avoid his high school coach. It's a remarkably poor rationale for taking an unusual action.

I think he meant that his friend is playing on varsity, and the unhappiness with the coach is felt across the whole program, including varsity starters and JV benchwarmers.quote:Without giving too much away, it's not that he's not playing. It's not a personal problem with the coach. THE WHOLE TEAM WANTS HIM OUT. Varsity starter to JV benchwarmer. They all do.
