Put your favorite MLB or college team on the television and mimick the catcher throughout the entire game. It takes awhile to be able to squat, signal, receive and "throw back" the entire time. Wonderful tool. While your team is batting, have an at bat also. Visualize getting a hit!
You can do goalie drills...learning to slide through and to balls in the dirt so you can center your frame for maximum stoppage.
Also footwork drills on steals. Visualize the catch then make the proper steps to get throw to 2d or 3d. Easy by yourself. Make sure you don't just "catch" the ball over the middle of the plate as well.
Last, work on ways to get into hitters' heads...funny remarks about GFs, cheap swag they are wearing, etc. Major League and Bull Durham watching comes to mind.
You can search the Catching forum for lots of drills..i.e. .https://community.hsbaseballweb.com/advancedSearch?searching=true&type=topics&searcher.optionalWords=drills&searcher.requiredWords=&searcher.exactPhrase=&searcher.notWords=&searcher.postedAfter.dateString=Date&searcher.postedBefore.dateString=Date&searcher.forum=2982475074863606&includeReplies=false&searchPagination.sort=ITEM_DATE&=Search
I don't think the solo pop up drill is included in this search as I am told its "busch/bush" league http://community.hsbaseballweb...ting-catcher-pop-ups.
Good luck.
Set up 8 balls in a rectangle, take a secondary stance about 8' from the rectangle and get up and field the balls as if they were bunts. Move from left to right. Balls 4 and 8 reverse pivot.
