Thats not funny. I played for Clemente and i dont appreciate this remark about Puerto Ricans
Cougar235, You have a PM.
I dont think retired coach Tomleoni would have liked that remark either.
Didnt mean anything by that post i am hispanic myslef from Humboldt park so i wasnt trying to be racial or anything like that. I am sorry if i offended anyone
Cougar, no offense taken here. I thought it was kind of funny myself, when I read it a few days ago I cracked up. I knew from that post that you were puerto rican, don't know why, but i did. Life in the city maybe. A guy making a joke and I didn't see anything in the joke that spoke about racism. It's just a fact, Puerto Ricans, from Puerto Rico, come and go all the time in this town and others.
Isn't Dave Riviera coaching Clemente now? I also saw Nelson Perez at some fall games. His younger son graduated last year..is he going to keep coaching at Clemente?

It makes it so much more enjoyable for the reader, if your story actually has a point.
On Saturday night, nationally ranked basketball power Whitney Young posted a big win in the Hoopfest Tournament in Marshall County, Kentucky which is one of the most prestigious prep basketball events in the country. The atmosphere was electric as Young got the victory 75-72.
Marshall County athletic director Steve Woodward reports that 30,000 fans, and 25 scouting services and dozens of college coaches were in attendace at the 12th annual Marshall County HoopFest in Benton, Kentucky. Also at this event from Chicago were Simeon and Hales Franciscan, but Young was the only Chicago team to emerge victorious.
Baseball/Basketball Class of 2008 standout Julian Kenner was named the MVP for the game scoring a game high 17 points. Young features Central Florida-bound A.J. Rompza, Northern Illinois-bound Bryan Hall, Division I bound Class of 2009 Juniors, Chris Colvin and Marcus Jordan, and Class of 2010 Sophomores Anthony Johnson and Ahmad Starks.
Last weekend Young blew out Chicago Hales Franciscan on Sunday night to open their season. Tonight Sunday December 9, Young travels back to Chicago to play in the Chicago Shootout, facing Homewood-Flossmoor at Chicago State University. Game time at Chicago State is at 8:00 p.m and tickets are still available.

Come on people--
This year a few writers will rank the CPS high because they want to convey a sense of balance; then in the postseason a few teams will be ranked relatively high so as not to be viewed as biased, and you know what will happen. . . . .
As usual the CPS will underperform, like usual compared to their suburban counterparts.
This is how it has been for years, and this is how it will continue to be. Your "elite" city schools will be the equivalent of your average suburtban schools.
SO, there you go.

Nothing but Jealousy!
Green with envy!!
Green with envy!!
I hope in addition to academics. The people at Young teach the kids a little about grace, class and humility. Cause it seems to me, one Dolphin calf may not be getting enough lessons in those qualities at home.

If we just concede that your kids are better and smarter, and that you are more enlightened and dutiful parents, will you shut up then?
Because judging from your posts, that seems to be your goal. Besides, you've already intimated we aren't smart or worthy enough to come around to your way, so your efforts are so wasted here.
In case some have forgotten, the name of this website is HSbaseballweb.com. It isn't hsbasketballweb.com. If we want to write about HS basketball there are many other sources, just not here please!
Hey Dol-Fans.......Can’t make it to Chicago State University at 8:00 pm tonight for the highlight game of the weekend?
Then watch Number #1 Whitney Young play Number #5 Homewood Flossmoor tonight on Channel 23.
Chicago Tribune gave Julian Kenner top billing in its Sunday Sports Pages. Julian Kenner is a baseball player first and basketball is his second sport. Another article about the Hoopfest tournament is in the Sunday Sun Times Prep Section.
You will see Class of 2008 standout Julian Kenner on the baseball diamond when Young takes the field and kicks off its 2008 baseball season in Florida. This years baseball squad is as deep with talent as the basketball team. A great season is anticipated!

By the way
I was speaking about CPS baseball being underperformers--not basketball.
Just wanted to clarify.

William Alvarez and steven Otero, top players for Steinmez high School getting recruited by EIU!
Academic administrators as a group are always talking about the dreaded "helicopter parents" who hover around schools sticking their noses into their kids business. It's ironic that a high flying helicopter parent doubles as a school administrator.
eastern Illinois?.......and what dou you mean recruited
yes sir!
EIU has been watching them since their junior year, but rumors has it that they're both still undecided about going there.
