Just....I love the place for college baseball. Send your son there for a summer or winter camp. Better still, find a weekend (SEC weekend) and take your son on an unofficial visit. He'll be sold on the place.

Give me a call: john petrulis 815-469-4520 and I'll give you an earful.

If you're in Northern California and get a chance to get your son involved in the NorCal program, you should do so.

Class people.

Now here is a good one. Michigan beat the number one seed twice, had a higher seeding than OSU. Michigan seats more than OSU.Michigan did not bid, they did not have the money and afraid they would not make it up in ticket sales, the super went to OSU. Michigan should have been awarded home team, JMO. A school is being penalized because THEY could not afford it.

Believe me, the physical state that Michigan's stadium is in....I would believe they wouldn't even bid on a super regional....not because they can't afford it, but because of the physical state of the stadium at present going thru renovations. They could barely accomodate the most recent Big10 tourney with any kind of comfort (ie, bathrooms, concessions, sound system etc)....let alone a super regional. Major renovations going on there....maybe in the future they will bid once their stadium is fully renovated.

infield...Read the thread...Started whining from the beginning. Blasted MSU and Larry Templeton, a terrific guy and the AD at MSU. Head of the NCAA Baseball selection Committee. All unfounded....because they didn't understand how the bid process works.

Then the "shots" about barbeque...All uncalled for.

Play the games. May the best team win.

Is this the one?

Or is this the one?

These both came from Dad04 who, I repeat, has a son who is a very talented pitcher at Louisiana Lafayette.
There isn't, in my opinion, any "whining" from Clemson and there isn't any "whining." People have differences of opinion and none of us know the criteria for selection because we weren't in the room where the decisions were made.

Here is something I can whine about.

Part of super regional hosting is to be able to provide accomodations for team and for all fans.

MSU's freshman orientation, planned well in advance, is this weekend, leaving hardly any rooms available in the area, rooms available about 40 miles out of town. Our team barely able to get rooms close in town.

I am sorry the NCAA messed up on this one, thanks to pressure from Templeton. I also want to note AGAIN, most of the NCAA staff at our hotel in Myrtle Beach were getting ready to head to Clemson and quite surprised they were headed to Starkville.

Beenthere claims it's a great place for college baseball, I have NO doubt, but when it comes to a chance to advance to the final championship, ALL things should be considered, equally and I stand by my theory that Templeton used his influence to influence others. That was WRONG.

Luvbb,
You are correct.

Any thoughts on the MSU AD being on committee to decide hosts for super regional.Or was it based soley on the $$$$$.Just a question...
Folks,in a nutshell my question was just that a question.I have no affiliation with either school. If I had to say anything"under oath"about this maybe Mr.Templeton should have recused himself and left room.Don't personally know the guy and only comment relating to vested inserest issue. No hard feelings....I hope.Enjoy the game!

Was anyone from the HSBW in the room when the Super-Regional decision was made ?

Was anyone on the phone when Clemson made a plea and/or stated their case and/or objections?

Does anyone know if Templeton actually did "play God"?

Maybe the committee as a whole was on the same page. When it all shakes out some here feel it's Templetons fault but no one on this site was involved with the process/decision and knows any REAL facts. Drawing unsubstanuated conclusions is whining and takes away from the game. The decision has been made, and they made it within the bylaws of the NCAA. If Clemson or any other school has a problem with that they should get off their arse and bring it up, but they won't. Why you ask? Because within the big scheme of things the ACC/SEC/Big10 or any other "power conference" will get their fair number of "NCAA gifts" in other areas so why rock the boat. When all is said and done Clemson will still be in the + column concerning NCAA decisions after everything is factored in. Elite programs do not bicker with issues because what goes around, comes around . IMHO

I understand what u are saying but having College baseball on campus with 5K or in Miss st ate cas 12+K is great. I don't think neutral sites are the answer. By the way in the regionals didn't MSU and CU win on the road (though you could say Clemson had an unfair advantage and probably had a home crowd in Myrtle Beach..I'm not saying anything is wrong with that). If the #1 seeds had won we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Random thoughts:
On a side note if attendance was the only factor UNC would not be hosting SC would with triple the attendance.

It could be worse...you could be home watching with your Son next to you.

OSU fans having been freaking out about Louisville getting the Super Regional, blaming MSU AD and UL AD etc.

Its baseball and your team is/was playing enjoy the moment
UNC was a national seed, they earned that right to play at home and did not have to rebid.

Clemson's actual seating holds less than 6K, but at our super regional last year we had an attendance of over 8K. It was all about the $$$, Clemson only placed a minimum bid in, MSU somewhere reported between 65 and 100K which goes to the NCAA.
Coastal knew that most of the crowd would be in orange when they placed the bid. Also it was a great place to play, not a hostile environment as they met with this weekend. Ringing cowbells (not allowed by NCAA rules) garbage thrown onto the field, fans trying to reach for balls in play, brutal heat, just makes life harder.

My congrats to MSU, they out played us they deserved the win. And today's starting pitcher was just not on or our defense. Frown I still stand by the fact, whether we won or lost, that Templeton should have taken himself out of the picture, Clemson should have bid higher and most importantly the committe should have done more homework. We were more than prepared to go to Tallahassee, those fans in Section B are brutal, but we would have been able to have many fans there and that means a lot when you play away from home trying to get to the championship. The AD now claiming he had no clue it was orientation and every hotel for miles around (there aren't too many) were booked. Plus there was some convention in town. I understand some team was denied a super once (maybe it was this year) because it conflicted with something else going on in town. One of the stipulations by the NCAA of hosting is availability for TV, press, and those attending including the PLAYERS. They didn't even have ROOMS available for our team and had to bump people who had rooms for orientation from their reservations, placing them in hotels out of town (for free). If I sound like a sore loser, I am not, I stated we did not play to win, but add all of some of the above and it doesn't make sense to me.

Again congrats to MSU.
TPM - Having "been there" myself with the starting pitcher ( Eek)...let me say that I really enjoyed watching him today. Yeah, yeah, not the result we were all ('cept Beenthere maybe? Big Grin) hoping for...but WOW! What a live arm. Geez! That boy can bring it and the movement on that fastball was unreal!

Just remember me as your friend when I ask for some tickets at a future Cardinals game. Wink
Heard from a reliable source at MSU that Larry Templeton recuses himself from any decision that involves MSU.

13,760 today.

Go Bulldawgs!!!!!

If you get a chance in your lifetime, folks, and want to see a venue that appreciates college baseball, go see an SEC weekend in Starkville; visit the Left Field Lounge, too...Super Bulldog weekend is the best. Of course Super Regionals are terrific, too.
