Several colleges have sent us documents for my son's high school coach to fill out. Many ask for stats, evaluations, etc. Since my son did not play varsity last year for this coach (and, as yet, because of rain, not played any league games), what should we do with these questionnaires? Give them to the coach and let him fill out what he knows? Or hold onto them until the rain stops and the games begin? I am cognizant that prompt return of these documents indicates interest to the college..but if they aren't completed well, might not be good either.

Should have worded this differently...my son did not play varsity last year. So the varsity coach won't have any stats or info on him. That is not to say that the coach doesn't know him..as my son was brought up to varsity for several tournaments and pre-league games. It's just the stats that are requested for the college questionnaires will be JV stats. My son has sent his JV stats in his intro/bio letters to the colleges..but he's written them in. Now the varsity coach is going to have to come up with some stats. Should we wait to give the questionnaires to the varsity coach..until there's been a few league games..
My sons situation was different but a similar problem. He transfered from one HS to another in Oct of Jr year. He never gave the new coach any to fill out. He either used information from the summer teams, (more competitive anyway) or had his previous HS coach respond. Where it asked for HS coaches information, he also always put down the former coach since the new school coach had only seen him play once.

I personally don't belive any of this made a difference. Only ND actually made a phone call to the coach.
number...I'm not surprised at a coach telling his assistant what to do with inquiries...considering it is Mississippi!

Seems like the local coaches likely steer the best players to the 2 or 3 main universities in the state.

In my opinion, it is a stupid way to do business because it certainly hurts a prospects chances when someone indicates interest and a coach fails to respond. (And don't tell me that they are too busy because they teach a "Health" class or a PE class.)

I would just send form back without Coaches information.
