I really do appreciate hearing from all of you who are in the teaching profession outside of the Chicago area. I know the cost of living is greater in our area, but not three to four or even five times greater. Your stories are actually reassuring to me. Otherwise I think the whole world is going crazy. It takes one to know one. I am expert when it comes to crazy.

The superintendent that I mentioned, making $336,000/year at the end of his career (at age 58). That's crazy. Especially when you consider our School Board put this guy's package together during these economically challenging times! Do you think the voters are outraged?

And even though the teachers/coaches here are well paid and their pay is a point of contention I do have to say that my children have encountered some absolutely great teachers. And some not so good. And they've had some great coaches. And some not so good.

I will praise when praise is due. And I will criticize when criticism is due. And I will attempt to floss daily. I told you I was crazy. Crazy with no detectable signs of gingivitis. Periodontally perfect! Almost.

By the way realteamcoach...welcome aboard the HSBBW. It's nice to have you here. Waxed or unwaxed...makes no difference!

Thanks! I've followed the board for about 3 years, and learned valuable information from many here as a "lurker", and decided it was time that I start contributing something! Looking forward to the Spring!
I logged 573 hours for all things related to my HS team last season, and netted around $3200. I'm a teacher.

It's just not done for the money, and I would definitely do it for free. I often have to remind myself that I'm a TEACHER-Coach, and not the other way around....I get kind of consumed by thinking about it, how to make it better, what new things to try, new uniform colors, everything.

This next season will be my last (for awhile anyway). Will have to find something else to obsess about.
