Basically the compliance offices are a big friend of the programs if you catch my drift. But in my opinion it is not fair that football receives 80 fulls so I hope all compliance groups can help as many eligible guys as possible.

WRONG !!!! Sounds nice in theory, but the NCAA has closed down that loop-hole for the most part.

Unless a player meets one of 3 criteria in D1, then any academic money receives is counted towards the baseball slots. Those three criteria are:
1. 1200 SAT
2. 3.5 GPA (unweighted) in core courses (excluding weightlifting and other easy courses)
3. Top 10% of graduating class.

In D2, the criteria becomes:
1. 1150 SAT
2. 3.2 GPA
3. Top 20% of graduating class

Prior to the implementation of the new academic guidelines, what you mentioned was very common. Now, it's not and its a difficult situation to rectify. The only recourse may be either Redshirt, cut a player loose or reduction in offers. It also doesn't allow any "wiggle room" for recruiting the following year.

The emphasis has become STUDENT-athlete for every sport except football and basketball where it seems everyone turns a blind eye.
