Bryant College Coach headed to Rollins.........

Ok Guys this is how the 11.7 works. Each school has 11.7 full rides and when I say full rides it means EVERYTHING! If a coach does accidentally go over his 11.7 then the compliance office starts to give academic money in its place. Basically the compliance offices are a big friend of the programs if you catch my drift. But in my opinion it is not fair that football receives 80 fulls so I hope all compliance groups can help as many eligible guys as possible.
WRONG !!!! Sounds nice in theory, but the NCAA has closed down that loop-hole for the most part.
Unless a player meets one of 3 criteria in D1, then any academic money receives is counted towards the baseball slots. Those three criteria are:
1. 1200 SAT
2. 3.5 GPA (unweighted) in core courses (excluding weightlifting and other easy courses)
3. Top 10% of graduating class.
In D2, the criteria becomes:
1. 1150 SAT
2. 3.2 GPA
3. Top 20% of graduating class
.................
Prior to the implementation of the new academic guidelines, what you mentioned was very common. Now, it's not and its a difficult situation to rectify. The only recourse may be either Redshirt, cut a player loose or reduction in offers. It also doesn't allow any "wiggle room" for recruiting the following year.
The emphasis has become STUDENT-athlete for every sport except football and basketball where it seems everyone turns a blind eye.
Regarding William and Mary coaching change. Several players requesting one-time transfer waiver have been denied. Of course, the school is under no obligation to release these players, just seems lousy given the entire coaching staff change and still no new coaches in place.
I heard a rumor that the coach from Trinity(Ct) is going to Columbia(NYC). Anyone?
Assistant Coach Marc Pavao has taken over for Head Coach Juan Ranero at Barry University in Miami. Coach Ranero resigned to take the Head Coach job at Rowen University in NJ. Sorry if that's old info.
