You bring up an interesting point with the players leaving.

I see it more and more every year--kids have no patience and do not wait for their time to come.
It doesnt just happen at Coastal--it happens all over-- and many leave for no apparent reason other than lack of playing time

How many played varsity as freshman in HS?

As a college freshman it is even tougher-- players need to be patient

Are we coddling the players too much in HS and are we leading them to believe things that are not true?
I think the problem is that these players are "elite" and many haven't been on the bench since they were ..... probably never (even if that meant being the star freshman on the soph team).

They get to the big-time and all of a sudden the whole dugout is filled with guys that are just as talented as they are.

I wouldn't be surprised if coaches observe dugout behavior and playing at alternative positions at the showcases -- that could give you an idea about who will be trouble down the line.
The NCAA has a new system which will somewhat restrict coaches from going the Juco or transfer route.

In turn this will restrict player's from transferring so often. I'm not sure of the exact rule, but grades and graduation have a lot to do with it.

The bottom line is a loss of scholarship's.

Can someone who knows help me out.
The scores have already been revised---the UCONN basketball program was listed as a failure. Now they are A-OK due to re-evaluation.

The forumula needs reworking , at least in my eyes, so as to account for JUCO players coming in for years 3 and 4 in college. They also need to address baseball players being drafted after their junior year as well as basketball players leaving early for the draft.

What is going to happen now that the NBA as decided that HS players must wait a year after graduation to join the NBA DRaft ?--Does this mean a kid goes to college for one year and then jump into the draft? If so how does this impact the evaluations.

As usual the NCAA in their efforts to make things clearer only makes the water muddier

This might sound like a dumb question but id the CC program is on your Top 5 list why arent you doing your homework

Why do we have to update you?

If I were you I would be on top of this situation like cream cheese on a NY bagel. Searching the internet for all the info I can find--If I can find it so can you !!!!

Due diligence is needed here by you, not others

If you are asking me about Coach Gilmore I know nothing and even if I did this is not the time or place for me to say anything

UNIFORMED about Coach Cox are you ---do this--sit down with a cup of coffee and research where the man has been and what he has done. You might start with the bio of Coach Fox

You are like the kid I knew in HS--always wanting someone to do his homework assignments

Not for nothing but some of you could do a bit more homework before asking questions-- this sort of question makes me wonder who you are and why you ask the questions you do

I do my homework--why don't you ?
slo-mo,
Did you read the link CV provided? It leads you to myrtlebeachonline, if you are interested, keep following the story. Anyone can pick up the local gossip by reading the newspapers close to the school or finding out if they have a scout.com site for more information.
No coach is going to mention to anyone about leaving, especially potentials recruits.
TR and many others here provide a wealth of information, but we just can't keep up with everything Big Grin How is TR supposed to know who is leaving and who is staying.
I admit many come here for information on programs without first doing their homework

It is clear from the article that Coach Gilmore is undecided at this time. It is just as clear that he is depending on CC to make the decision for him. (Crest of the wave etc.)

As one of the best coaches in the country, let alone the best, imo, available, CC had better act quickly or I would color him gone!

With big school's like A&M and MSU throwing the big dough around Coach Gilmore deserves a huge increase.

As a big fan of CC I hope this gets done. I'm concerned that they did not try very hard to host the regional. Whatever $ they think they saved with that blunder, they should earmark for coach Gilmore.
soxnole,

I agree that they need to step up now or kiss him good bye.

The regional hosting was probably not their decision since I don't think their current stadium (seating wise) is anywhere near big enough. They have plans to build a new stadium having 3000 seats for the 2007-08 season. They claim in their baseball program that 3000 is the minimum required for hosting a regional.
CC was awarded the #1 seed in Arizona, due to lack of facilities that would support a regional in that area. I am not sure if lack of good money for a bid was a factor or not.
Same went to College of Charleston, though considered for facilities, someone goofed and burned out the outfield grass, not being able to be improved this year.
I was thinking that the very nice minor league stadium could have been used to host. I'd like to know the inside story on that as I'm sure coach Gilmore wanted to host in the worst way.

...maybe the stadium wasn't available?

In any case coach Gilmore needs to be taken care of before the big boy's wake up and come calling on him.

I have heard only rumors, but nothing that I can substantiate from other sources yet and I have tried. They may be unfounded speculation.

I did find it "interesting" that ETSU is leaving the SOCON this year after dropping their football program. Coastal cranked up it's football program in 2003. In the absence of any announcements by this point, nothing could happen prior to the 2006-2007 season.

According to "College Sports Info" web site: http://www.collegesportsinfo.com with a note as last updated in February of 2005, Coastal has expressed interest in joining the SoCon. It would be a natural fit since College of Charleston and The Citadel are already members.
