Good luck to all the teams that open us this weekend. I know HSC is at Averett on Sunday, and CNU hosts Guilford on Saturday. Other than CVSting and Hokieone, any other's have sons playing in games this weekend?

Tomorrow morn I'll be heading West to Danville.....hopefully not to the dusting of snow that hokieone just mentioned...The high for tomorrows double header with Averett is suppose to be 39 degrees.....great baseball weather...hey! I just left the CNU / Guilford game.....after 5 CNU was leading 4-1...It was cold at 43 degrees....Go Tigers.

fc v dad...
...which Tiger is your son?
Praise the Lord and CNU President Paul Trible for CNU's indoor facilities with batting cages and enough room to take infield and long toss, and Gander Mountain for locating close by, so we can buy all that cold weather gear.

Bballmomssr: Congratulations on your son going to HSC, a very fine school with an excellent baseball program. Before next "spring" (my sons opened their season this past Saturday, anything but spring-like), if you don't ski, pretend you do and go shopping for cold weather gear. You will need it. Lots of it. Guaranteed.

We play HSC in Newport News Saturday and the forecast is for 40 degrees.
bballmomssr...congrates to you and your son for selecting one of the top academic institution's and the alumni net is second to none. Any info you would like to dicuss or concerns you have just send me a PM. Also if your son can hit I'm sure Coach K would add him to the roster right now. Tough weekend at Averett. They had the case of gnittihon, which is no hitting backwards. Hopefully it was the pitching I saw....but I'm not convenienced it was. Looking forward to hooking up with the message boys from the foothill side of the beach....hokieone and cvsting.

fc v dad,

I usually am in the last couple upper rows directly in front of the press box on the CNU dugout side; I'll have a CNU baseball sweatshirt on with numbers 5 and 25 on the sleeve but it likely will be blue coat-covered. Look for a tall old geezer with a camera bag somewhere nearby, usually with a nice looking lady that would appear to be out of his league.

I look forward to meeting you and am sure CV will be close by as well.

H-1
Congrates to JT and Jeff on winning the starting nod in LF. It's not often a freshman starts out the season playing for Coach Abell.

Also It's pretty tough to start your season against a team that as already played 5 games and those games were played against West Coast competition. Good luck to Lynchburg today.

fc v dad....Go Tigers
The good news....I met Hokieone and cvsting....the bad news....their son's team beat my son's & ladyNmom's team twice... 6-2 & 5-1. It was cold but that's ok...it was baseball...CNU appears to have a solid ball club. H-SC has a lot of work to do. Good luck to the Neals & the Cranes...they owne the bragging rights this year.

The one thing I failed to mention in my earlier post is that LadyNmom's #1 favorite Hampden Sydney player...Brian... recorded his 1st college hit and RBI. He also took a hit away from Hokieone's #2 at CNU with a diving stop of Parker's hard hit liner that was heading to right field.

Oh by the way.... hokieone...don't you wish you could get a special tax break exemption for having two baseball players at the same college?

Odds and ends:

-JT, JR. on an early season roll for Lynchburg, 2 for 3 today...keep on trucking! Very nice debut weekend.

-FCV, I agree. It's very interesting mail when two invoices arrive at once.......

-5 games in next 6 days, and the temperature for the three game days is...more of the same. Back to Gander Mountain today and bought a carry-along heater for da feet.

-Averett, NC Wesleyan, CNU, and Methodist, all from USA South, off to a combined 16-0 start; add Greensboro and it becomes 21-3. That's the only thing that's hot that days.

VWC's game for Sat. against Salisbury got cancelled. The head coach of Salisbury said it is too cold. Give me a break and let the kids play ball. Geez.

No big deal but I want to make sure the right team is credited. The games that were cancelled were a DH with VWC at Ferrum College. Just the same, their coach did cancelled due to it being too cold at their field . I think it is rescheduled for March 19.

VWC played #26 Salisbury last Sunday with a 4-0 win over the Gulls as noted by Redbird5 in another post on the VA site.

My son is done, but I'm still here watching your!
Hello Craig...I'm not sure if it was tougher on him or his mom not seeing him play baseball last year....boy..during last years spring season the house got cleaned two times on Saturday and two times on Sunday just to keep her mind off of it...we are glad he is back...It took two operations but the shoulder has finally be repaired as it should have. Sounds like you have snow on the ground...do you think the game will be played?
