Had it been a different outcome I would have been a Scot backer for state. Couldn't have scripted this thing better. Two 10-4A rivals battle into extra innings and the coaches son knocks in the winning run. Two great programs I know we will be battling it out again next year 1 and 2 again.

You guys were certainly loud Friday. And you took all the good parking places with your Limos and Hummers. hahahaa j/k of course.

Who stated that the Dragons were elite? How did that person come up with that word for that team?

I look at a schedule, I see games, practices - and a lot of RVK tournaments...

What makes this team elite? Marketing?

Just curious.

When I think Elite, I think of the top 5-8 organizations in the north Texas area that continually (year after year) place players in college and have a handful getting drafted.... teams where the college coaches are calling asking them to send rosters/schedules - and requesting that they use thier facilities to play thier games...

Very clearly putting your Dragons on the "elite" stage!

OK you are right.. I hate being wrong Big Grin Well I would tap the brakes a little on the Elite thing until the Dragons have established themselves. But they are off to a great start. I think they will be at that status soon. I think its good for everyone for there to be more competition out there. It will only make all our players and teams better.

Newscout - Why are you not at the state tournament scouting players. What team are you affiliated with. Didn't you say the Brewers or was it the Twins I can't remember. I thought you had a different screen name back when you were trying to get players for your North Texas Rangers team out of Ft Worth. Did that deal fall through?
My son's team doesn't even play in the age group, rp. I was just curious to see if your guys were scheduled to play the area teams -- in upcoming tournaments or whatever. I know your group travels a lot and does not play in a local league. My comment was not intended to slam the Dragons in any way -- as a matter of fact, I know several of the 18U kids and wish them success.
In the Turn Two tournament in San Antonio, the Dallas Dragons 16U team beat the Dallas Patriots 16U Red team. The Dallas Patriots 16U team was playing in the DBU tournament this weekend with teams like McKinney Marshalls, Burkburnett, etc. The Patriots 16U Red team beat the Dallas Tigers in BBI a week or so ago. With several sore arms, we were pretty week in the pitching dept. by the time we faced the Dragons, but your pitcher did a great job. Congratulations to the Dragons. My son has played with Trevor and Josh M. on other teams. Some nice college fields we got to play on.

No, it was the 16U tourney in San Antonio. We ended up 2-1-1 in the PG tournament. In both tournaments, our only loss was to the eventual champion.

Not bad for a team that's only been together for a little over a month!

I know now I was wrong. I can't believe that. Thats 2 times this year I was wrong about something. P1s son (P .5 Ver2) had to correct me also..

18U Dragons:

Last weekend: 2-1-1 (5-1-2)

The team is still working on learning to play the way JB wants them to and are making mistakes that have cost them. Not a big deal to those of us who like what the guys are learning. I do understand that some of the kids are getting frustrated at the coaching intensity though.
OK...so I am new here and gonna jump right into it! I know several of the Dallas Dragon players and wish them continued success. The more competetive organizations we have in the area, the better it is for everyone. I do, however, have some things to say in response to comments made about "elite" organizations and the lack of developing their players, etc. that some folks felt the need to discuss. My son currently plays for the McKinney Marshals and I would consider them a very good "select" organization (noticed how I stay away from the "elite" word). Any good team in any given year can be considered "elite" if they have a great year. When the comment was made that the "other elite" teams are just a "show up and play" team and that these coaches "do not develop their talent"...I just sat here and had to laugh. First of all, the talent comes to them (as did ny son when he chose to play for them)...they don't go around and just recruit 24/7. When I saw in excess of 50/60/70 young men out at their tryouts fighting for very few spots...that tells me these young men enjoy playing for this organization. When I see 16 kids on the roster and every single one of them played in this last weekends tournament, that is a dedicated organization dedicated to developing its talent. Coach Ferrer/Mize/Self are constantly coaching these young men. I watch as every one of them are ready to play (shirt tucked in, hats on straight, etc.) while our opponents at times are walking around with shirts unbuttoned, untucked, hats backwards, shorts on, etc. I hear Coach Ferrer telling his team to stand up and stay vocal on the bench while we are in the 10th inning in 90+ heat with the other guys laying across their bench. Dont let them know your tired! I also sat through a solid week of daily practices, including two-a-days prior to the start of the season. What you have to understand is that the Dragons are a new team (noticed how I avoided the "rookie" word) with kids that have not played together yet (some have I know). These coaches know that and are doing everything they can to get them to play together as quickly as possible as well as be able to understand their coaching philosophy. The Marshals have the luxury of very little turnover from year-to-year as they usually retain the majority of their players. They only have to make sure their teams are baseball ready (which most of them already are). And lastly, they do put a lot of games in a very short timeframe....but so does every other "select" organization as they want the exposure for their team. Sorry for the novel, but I was so upset to hear some of these comments and had to respond. I wish EVERY organization well and know that we will see most of you throughout the year.
OH, I almost forgot..."It's a great day to be a PANTHER"

Which Dragon Team has openings? Are they looking for certain position players? Thanks for sharing!

18U is the one I'm familiar with. Catcher, pitcher and position players have left.

Madmacks, no one has labeled themselves "elite", it was used to refer to other well known programs.

Strange how some teams have great names and reputations without MOST parents (or players) ever saying a word.

A's, Blackhawks, FW Cats, D-Bat, Mustangs, Patriots, Tigers etc (tried to be alphabetical to not show favortism - did not mean to leave anyone out)

Everyone is proud of their kids, proud of their team. Let's wish the dragons success and as they grow in maturity as an organization. It appears they will be one of the teams that will have a great reputation. Just really dont need weekly reports on who did what.

Good luck to everyone this summer!
