As you may have heard or read in the newspaper recently the Waxahachie ISD Board of Trustees has agreed to allow the Continental Baseball League to use Richards Park in Waxahachie as the home site for a local semi-pro baseball team. The Continental Baseball League is a newly formed independent pro baseball venture based in Dallas.
The local team will play a 12 week, 60 game schedule and this will be expanded as future teams are added to the league. This league will be very similar to the Texas Collegiate League that has teams throughout North Texas . The main difference will be that players in the Continental Baseball League may have already used their college eligibility whereas the Texas Collegiate League players must be current college players.
The league is seeking local investors for the Waxahachie franchise and with enough interest the investment could be minimal. This could be a great opportunity for local sports enthusiast and will definitely benefit the local baseball programs. The league is very committed to involvement with the local high school and youth teams. They will hold numerous camps and clinics throughout the summer and will offer special game day opportunities for local children.
