Coppell

If true, surely Pat would get a shot at this job, right?

I can't imagine who will get a shot. Guessing there will be hundreds of applicants, and many very high quality applicants. I could think of a few who might be serious contenders, I won't name them though because I wouldn't want to breach their confidentiality or jeapordize their standing in the positions they presently hold. It will be very interesting. I wouldn't expect the position to be filled very quickly. Bet we have at least a month of guessing and conjecture.

I heard this rumor last Thursday while watching the SLC/Plano game at Coppell complex. Still haven't seen anything definitive to confirm it. But then again, I heard the same rumor last year. If true I would think they would post the job no later then the week after school lets out.

At Coppell, isn't it an annual rumor?

With the job market like it is I believe this is one of the few decent jobs that will open this year. Last year there were quite a few. I was runner up on a good job and said to myself oh well there is always next year. I'm not at a bad place, but just at a place that isn't in a location I want to settle.I sent in my resume. Wife took off this year to take care of our infant..Now no job and nothing open with us struggling to find a way to get by!! I had the honor of working for Coach English and there is not a better person or baseball coach in the area. Class, integrity, character and strong Christian ethics all in one man. Someone is about to get a great coach.

Northeast Texas Community College could use a couple of new coaches.

Wow at our school the coach can have plenty of talent have a disappointing regular season, lose in the first round every year and as long as he doesn't rock the football boat he is considered doing his job well.

Yeah, I agree with the post on the Dallas Morning News site: Flower Mound should hire Don English so their talent could actually be coached!

Where are you getting that info?

Could be a long process if they are going to keep it open until June 22.

On the THSCA board it listed around $6000 for coaching and another 5-6K for field maintenance. So if you have been teaching for a while you would be making over 60,000 which is probably a lot for a baseball coach yet peanuts for a football coach.

I did not see that on the THSCA site. I guess its not there any longer. Your right about a good salary for a baseball coach but its not much for football..Sad but true.

The field stipend was on the Irving Nimitz job, not Coppell.

Hondo gets that "stipend" for the mound alone.

You have to go through alot of high school, college and pro facilities before you find a mound kept better than Pat keeps Coppell's.

He even keeps the mound on the freshman field better than any high school varsity mound that I've ever seen.

Its a matter of pride with Pat. He's a real unsung hero in that program.

You don't have to give names, but can you give where these guys are from? As in are they all DFW guys?

1 north texas, 1 statewide .. working to confirm 3rd...

2 of the candidates are from the metroplex area. One is closer than the other to DFW area. The third is from another part of the state.

Where are you getting your information? Registered yesterday?

Not that its a big deal MD, but its very reliable sources. Something should happen early this week unless the chosen one pulls his name.

One is from a program that has been deep in the playoffs in the later couple of years. He comes from a similar type of town and school.
