After a solid, weekend, and I mean solid weekend of college baseball action I have a few observations

01---Between ESPN U and ESPN2 they gave us a overload of great baseball since Friday at noon. I thought they did a great job even with the weather delays

02-- Saw a lot of sloppy defense

03-- Did not see a lot of great pitching

04-- What happened to all the 90 MPH Arms?

05-- Saw a load of great hustle and effort and it made for exciting baseball

agree espn2/cstv did a great job on the production end ..

I'd be nice if espn2 put the actual intended team/game info in the progam guide tho, instead of just "ncaa regional"..

team names or game # would especially be helpful on the replays as some are late nite or AM & they must know who is acually playing, you'd think Confused

want 90 mph? put the tivo in FF>

how about Creighton's Venditte pitching both RH & LH??

that's true, but when they replay the games at 1 & 3 am it might be cool to let folks know what's playing ... I'm sure they know Roll Eyes

ex:
cstv lists (live & replay) "akransas regional game 5" ... that's cool I can get a bracket & figure who's playing Smile

espnu lists (live & replay) "ncaa regional game" ..
seems sloppy jmo

TR - I agree about the coverage... been very good. I don't have ESPNU, but have enjoyed the games that have been broadcast on ESPN2.

I also agree about the pitching. It's often stated that a difference between your large DIs and smaller schools is the velocity of the pitching. Of the limited coverage I've seen, I've seen very few pitching over 90 or even close actually. Most of the guys have lived between 83-86. Coastal Carolina does have the son of one of our posters and he had several pitches over 90 and all others were around 88.... nice looking freshman!

Perhaps more a product of the high-tech weapons college athletes are using to hit those 88 mph fastballs Big Grin

Frightening moment in the Fresno St - Minn game on ESPNU when the pitcher from FS (Tanner Scheppers)took a vicious line drive in the side of the face. The wife and I watched in horror as the impact sounded like it cracked the kids skull. They later said in the post game that the kid never lost consciousness and was ungoing tests at local hospital. Godspeed young man.
Ur lucky.
west coast coverage of the college ball is almost non existent and retarded in selection.
UNC and Oregon State are both playing, neither game is available. Morons on Fox and CSTV are showing replays of conference championships, replays of teams already eliminated etc. ESPN going with french tennis players and talk shows. Might as well be at work
My son was out at Long Beach and we were unable to make the trip. No worry it will be webcasted. I should have blown off an earlier commitment because the game was like watching the old electric football game. One camera mounted as far away from the game as possible that did not move or zoom all weekend.

Don't get me wrong...it was free. However, after watching "live video" at other regionals they should not have called LBS a webcast. It was live radio with a picture. You'd think the left coast would be further ahead in cinematography.

I was thinking the same thing! It reminded me of when my daughter (golfer) was being recruited. She got a couple letters back that said "We recruit girls who shoot consistently in the 70's". Well no DUH, of course you do coach because you don't have anybody now who can shoot that low.

It seemed like Clemson was the only team I saw that was loaded with them.

Also...regarding the Fresno State kid getting hit; thank goodness he seems to be ok from what was reported. Thought of Erik Davis immediately.
