If you look at the bracket Flower Mound has a real good shot at making it to the tournament in Region 1. Rowlett will have a harder time if they get past Tyler Lee with Klien Collins, The Woodlands, and Georgetown in their bracket in Region 2. I think Plano West will get by N. Mesquite this week but it will be tough after that for them.

So, IMO, I think FM will make it to the state tournament. And if Rowlett continues to play at a high level like they have been, they have a shot to be there also. GO EAGLES!!!

Fireball must be a "Southside Johnny"!

Well the Metroplex kids should just mail in I guess!!! Some great series this week. Hopefully they will all be three game set ups!

Oh this just in....

FM at Martin @ 7:30 PM Thursday
Martin @ FM 7:30 PM Friday
Game 3 if necessary at Colleyville Saturday at 2PM or 7PM.

But this may be all for "nothing" as the South or Houston have this year wrapped-up. But what do I know I am just a ....
Hey P1TH...Lets see. Robstown, CC Moody, Buda-Hays, Brenham and Montgomery. I challenge anyone to find teams that comapre. At one time Denton-Ryan. Highland Park? They have money but not enough to buy a championship. The one team from the North that may have a chance is Lubbock-Estacado and they are not really North Texas and would never claim to be...They have more pride than that.

Mesquite Poteet, Highland Park, Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Corsicana, Nacogdoches, Waco Midway. All those easily compare.. Also only two of the ones you metioned can possibly even make it to the final 4 so we will see in Mid June I guess.

Ft. Worth Arlington Heights did not advance to the regional quarter finals....

I didnt even check that. I just took it for granted they would have advanced.

Good evaluation...2 out of 4...from the South!...Of those I mentioned, one will likely win state. I will give you Waco Midway and Corsicana as they relatedmore to central Texas and would not consider themselves a "Northerner".

stanwood - My bad - I didn't realize Birdville was in the metroplex (guess I need to get out more Smile) , don't think anyone is writing them off, I will add them to the list of DFW teams.

I am not familiar with Birdville so I have no basis for an opinion but I was surprised to see A. Heights get knocked out since Walker Kelly has been so dominant. Give us some info on how the series played out.

Birdville is what I thought was the best team in a tough 6-4A district. birdville was a new school in 2003. Coach david hatcher came to birdville last year and proptly put them in the play-offs. (Hatcher won state 4A title in 1997 with boswell) they are a senior dominant team that is very good defensively, solid offense, good #1 and a lot of depth. they just flat beat hieghts in every aspect in the two wins. against walker they battled in every inning. they uncharacteristicly gave up 6 unearned runs. Birdville will be tough for anybody!!!
So nothing from the Dragon nation ? I thought we had a couple poster from the upper belly of the lake.

How did Lewisville score 13 runs against them? ( No, dispresct towards Lewisville, I picked them to come back and make the playoffs)

I don't know how to judge this match-up and I am looking for a little help.

How do you see it shaping up?

KD, you should have some insight into the series.
Coppell will be tough series. But Chase Reid is tough to hit and I suspect will win his start. Braddock can also be tough to hit (he 3 hit Duncanville in 7 innings). However, he can get touched up if he isn't on (see Lewisville game). So there is a real possibility of this series going to a game 3.

I think the series favors SLC if there is a game 3. They will still have enough pitching with Ethan Cunningham (RHP) and Eric Kegley (LHP) to be very tough. I don't think Coppell can match that depth.

It will a fun series to watch though. Good luck to both teams.

Now that is a nice response. It is interesting, but I look at Coppell having an advantage in the third game. If SLC is to win this series they will have to do it in 2 games. If Coppell gains a split in games 1 and 2 , then Coppell has more pitching and their hitters should not be denied by what ever combination of # 3+ pitchers SLC puts on the mound.

Cole Green did start the third game against Keller.

If Coppell can find away to get to a game three I think we all will be in for a good game. If not, SLC does have a good chance in winnig the first two games.

How many did Ried give up to Lewisville?

Coppell beat Lewisville 3-2 and 11-5, in the second game they only had 1 unearned run through 6 innings prior to a JV pitcher being brought in for a look in the bottom of the 7th.

Frankly, I don't think Coppel has a chance. We have no pitching, hitting etc..I think we will get run ruled in both of the first 2 games. Shoot, we should just forfeit and save the gas. Cole is hurt, Cameron is an infielder, not a pitcher and our team is just too young in key positions. That's just my honest assessment. Been a good year otherwise. Smile
Watten and Meats-son will have to have great games in order to beat SLC.

SLC hits the ball 1-9, they play solid defense and they don't leave runners stranded and revert to playing small ball when the need arises.

After facing SLC twice this year, I would give them the edge over Coppell unless CG is able to pitch.

Reid is hittable early, but if you let him settle in, you are in trouble. He's the toughest pitcher Keller faced this year.

Lewisville scored so many off of SLC because I think SLC was looking ahead and not thinking a 4 seed could beat them....they learned their lesson
