My son is an '06 catcher from Southern California who will be playing in the College Select Baseball Showcase in Binghamton NY in August. HSBB's own TRhit is the Consulting Director of College Select and I have enjoyed reading his posts for the past few years. I believe many of the schools in the Northeast will be in attendance. See the website at
http://www.collegeselect.org for more info on these showcase's.
I am from NY and my husband is from Pennsylvania. Our families are both back east and my son has expressed an interest in attending college there. Even though he has already been contacted by some of the Division I schools here in California, the one thing we have learned from reading the HSBB message boards is that you want to make certain that whatever school you attend is a "good fit" for both baseball and academics. Therefore, we decided to attend the College Select showcase where we will also be able to meet Tom Rizzi (aka TRhit) in person.
We have also had the opportunity to travel to Georgia each summer with our travel team to play in the PG WWBA tournaments, where there are many coaches from the east coast in attendance. Make sure to play in a Perfect Game Showcase in California if you haven't done so already. My son was invited by PG to play in the Perfect Game National Showcase last month at Turner Field in Atlanta where there were many pro scouts and colleges from all over the country in attendance also.
I have never heard that your stock may be higher back east if you are from California. Perhaps TRhit or some of the HSBB posters could comment on that.
