What a day for the Dominion District, with Ambers and Staib back in the line up, Monacan wins over Midlo 4-2. Midlo had plenty of opportunities with bases loaded but couldn't push any across the dish.

Butts throws a complete game against River to get the win.

Clover Hill's bats are hot and get the win over Crosby.

The race to the end is going to have some fun games to watch!

The Dominion District website & standings are incorrect.  There system is not counting correctly (Monacan) and has not reported some makeup games (Bird).   Here is what I got:

JR 4-1  (W's over Bird, Midlo, CH, Mon; L's Manchester)

Cosby 2-1 (W's over Bird, Man; L's Clover Hill)

Clover Hill 2-2   (W's over Monacan, Cosby; L's JR, Midlo)

Manchester 2-2  (W's over Monacan, JR; L's Bird, Cosby)

Midlothian 2-2 (W's over Bird, Clover Hill; L's JR, Monacan)

Bird 2-3 (W's over Manchester, Monacan; L's Cosby, JR, Midlothian)

Monacan 1-4 (W's over Midlothian; L's Manchester, Clover Hill, JR, Bird)

This week:

Tuesday has Bird/Clover Hill; Cosby/James River and Manchester/Midlothian.

Wednesday has Midlo/Cosby

Thursday Monacan/Manchester

It is getting very interesting.

This is off the original topic, Midlo, but how does Powhatan land in Conference 19 (with Jamestown, Smithfield, etc)  rather than Conference 20 (with Midlo, Tucker, Dinwiddie, Hanover, etc) in the realignment?  It appears that Powhatan leapfrogs the entire RIchmond area when there are schools in Conf. 20 that are significantly closer to the Conf. 19 schools than Powhatan.  Given the goals of grouping schools by size and proximity, that one is  odd.

My observation would be that the size of the school had priority over proximity when these decisions were made.  There are a number of conference groupings in the new alignment that makes one shake his head!  The Richmond area and Southeastern VA, specifically.

Don't ask me, I've been wanting Powhatan to be grouped with the Central Region schools for years.  Obviously someone somewhere else wants it this way and is getting their way.

As to Powhatan, though, hooo it's been a bad week for them so far.  I saw some of Monday's game and they just refused to catch the darned ball.  I chalked it up as one bad day, but then they went and got beat again the next day.  Time to right the ship!
