Dormitory room facts

1. Ramen Noodles are a guys best friend.

2. You can fit an unbelievable amount of "Easy Mac" boxes into a dorm room!

3. Don't even think of sending a set of
"plastic" dishes for the room, unless you want them to sit unwashed for weeks on end. Disposable is the way to go. Actually....do they make "disposable" underwear??????

4. "Texasholdum" seems to be the national pass time. Clay chips are a must.

I need to get out more...

I thought Playstation 2 was the national pastime. We can only hope that when our grandchildren go off to school, our sons will have to argue with them over Playstation 6 or 8 or whatever they're up to by then.

Guys don't want to take all the neat things girls like to have in their rooms.

There are lots of pictures, awards, and plaques in his room, but he's taking none of those things. As a matter of fact, he is taking very little of the contents of his room, except for his clothes, ball gear, and the TV. The desk and dressers are built into the room, so obviously those stay at home. We realized this week most of his drawers and stuff are filled with old baseball uniforms, old ball caps, and Scouting stuff (he is leaving the Scouting stuff at home). We counted 50 ball caps!!!

Most of the stuff we are taking involves his computer.

I went over to see son's dorm today...beautiful, with a tree-shaded patio in back with a fountain, large common rooms with a baby grand piano, kitchenettes on every floor or wing...but the rooms are tiny....I am going to tell him to shrink a few inches and take very little...

No dorms here. It’s somewhat different at my son’s school. For some reason all the baseball players live off campus in different apartments. Some actually live in condos that their parents bought with the intent of selling after graduation. I guess if you have and extra 100K lying around it wouldn’t be a bad investment. These guys have it made! My son lives in and upscale apartment with two other players. I have to admit they do a good job with housekeeping and keeping their clothes clean. Now, it may be their feminine side that leads them to decorate their apartment walls but it’s their male hormones that influence their selection of pictures (or posters). Their personal rooms are dominated with baseball memorabilia like the picture of the “Babe” indicating his home run, to the pennants of their favorite baseball teams. I think most of these came with them when they left home as freshmen. The living room is a different story. Upon entering the living room your attention is immediately drawn to the foosball game and the shuffleboard table. You also notice playstation controllers strategically placed around the room with the TV being at the center. While wondering what type of education your son is really getting at college, your attention suddenly is drawn to the picture of the well endowed male squirrel on the wall. Then your eyes drift to the caption at the bottom of the picture . . . “Heloooo Ladies!” Hey, whatever! I’m all for fun and games and you can express yourself in whatever manner you so desire. I really don’t have a big problem with this EXCEPT….Am I paying for all this???

fungo...sounds like guy heaven! Freshmen (and perhaps beyond) here, the kids are required to be in the dorms. From what I understand, it is that which creates the lifetime bonds which make them so loyal to the school and their class. The school has a vested interest in that loyalty.

4 of the players lived together in a house--anytime I called there would be way more more than the 4 in the house --even coaches where there as well as ladies and gents from other teams--he had a great time and he even learned to cook

It made for a great college experience

I had to respondto this as I just finshed the big move. Boys moved in sat and 8 "adults" were there to get them settled. Our boys live in a two bedroom apartment on campus. All was looking good when we left on sat. Upon returning today we were greeted with all TV's on, stereos going, x-box hooked up and chips and cards on the tables, towels on the floor and suff everywhere.
I have been advised that once you leave them after setting up the apartment (dorm) never return unless invited!
I have to tell you the best part of the whole weekend was realizing that they think they will be on their own, ha,ha, they have to answer to their coaches now!

Well, from reading these posts it sounds like nothing has changed in the last 25 to 30 years. I wondre what ever happened to those amazing posters that were on the walls when I was a college kid? Man, those girls were hot! LOL

yeah dorm rooms can be fun. Most recent dorm room was at an IVY League college for summer ball. They had us in a suite designed for 4 people, it worked fine for 2 people which was our sitution.

Other players had 3 players to a suite. Most players just had stuff like, TV's VCR's and computers.

The funniest thing several ball players liked they had pics of the RA's next to the elevator and though it was a dating service for them.
