BBDad,
Best Coney Dogs - Coney Island Sandwich Shop - St Pete, FL. I'm not alone on that opinion.
Oh the Humanity!!!!
That's like saying that a Philly Cheesesteak is better in Austin Texas than at Stevie's in Downtown Philadelphia!!! Or that Cajun food is better in Milwaukee than in New Orleans!!! Or that you can get better crab cakes in Tucson than in Baltimore - at the Inner Harbor...
This is a crisis!
A Coney Island icon, the Coney Island Hot Dog, better in Florida!?!?!!!
Say it ain't so, Jerry, say it ain't so...

WOW! I started a simple thread asking about unique hot dog buns. I have found that I'll have to go back to Fenway to get them.
However, I'm going to be 500 pounds when I get there because of all the places you've all mentioned in the last week. I'll have to stop and eat at every single one on the way!

BBdad,
HaHaHa... It's true!!! However, if it makes you feel any better... I think the people who own it came from New York!
It's located fairly close to Tropicana Field! I sometimes go out of the way to pick up a few. ****es my wife off, but what you gonna do?

Why not ask Jerry...he can direct you to a great deli somewhere near Bismark North Dakota or in Bucks County Pennsylvania. I bet he can find you a gourmet Sushi place at a Target store in Idaho or some fine French-Vietnamese at a Sunoco in Cleveland.
Who needs Manhattan?

If its true that the regional food must be better from its own region, then New York and Chi-town have no pizza that can compare with that of Italy.
I have Real Italian pizza on a regular basis, and Sicilian style as well, compliments of my homegrown Sicilian bride. I have never had pizza in new england, new york or anywhere else that could compare with her's, nor any pasta dish as well.
Best white clam chowder I've ever had is at the Disney's Beach Club hotel, Cape May restaurant, and I'm from new england. The chef there is from Boston.
Over in the town of Celebration there is a tavern called the Town Tavern, owned by a couple of Bostonites. I am told they make great seafood, new england style. Since I don't eat much from the sea, its here-say.
Maine lobster is shipped fresh-frozen all over the country everyday, next day air. So good Maine lobster can be had anywhere these days.
Best dog for me is a R.I. hot weiner, also known as a gagger, yacker or puker. Great stuff. The prep guys actually lay 8-10 buns on their forearms and dress them there.

Best Gas Station Pizza - "Casey's" (And I'm serious, it is good)
I think Casey's are only in the Midwest, but not sure.
coachric, You are a very lucky man! Would your wife like to visit Iowa?

Coachric, everything you just said is right up our alley...my wife is a Disney freak and we wish we lived somewhere more basbeall conducive than Illinois.
Do you need a 14 year old shortstop by any chance?

Mix those leftovers in a casserole dish with a little extra pasta sauce and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and bake until cheese is slightly crusty. YUMMY!! Boys almost like it better than fresh.
FrankF, sound like pasta al forno, great stuff. No Iowa for her PG, however if you're in the Orlando area, she would cook for just about anybody. BiggerPapi, yes we can find a spot for the 14 yr old SS, and I can find you a house, I sell real estate and we live about 20 minutes from Disney, year round baseball, great chowder, and my wife's italian cooking.
There's more than one reason I love it here.

When I was in Iowa I ate "Chicken lips" Its breast meat with wing sauce. they also had lippy dogs at the ball park.. I never heard of such things ,but they were delicious. Do they have them in other states?
By the way
All the pizza, pasta and "gravy" in NJ is made by Sicilians..using NJ tomatoes And if no body likes NJ why does every body live here?

Caseys gas stations are all over Kansas!
Never tried their pizza,....the thought never even crossed my mind.
Wow,.....the things ya learn on the HSBBW!
Who woulda' thunk? ha!

SS mom, amazingly enough, Casey's pizza isn't too bad. I'm on the road at dinner time a lot and end up having a slice of pizza and a pint of chocolate milk.
Weird combination but when you're around a Casey's that means you're probably not around anything else, so you make due!

CoachRic, you can find me a house, you can find my son a team, maybe your wife could teach mine to cook, you live close to Disney...now, if you can find me a job I'll be on the next plane!!!
Papi, what do you do? The unemployment rate here is 2.5% and companies are crying for people. Hey, PM me if you're serious. You don't have to if its a pipe dream.
Hey NJBB, most real Sicilians make their sauce with homegrown tomatoes and we have more people relocating here from NJ than I believe you have living there now. LOL. Hey, we're all brothers and sisters just living in a different place.
Buon Appetito.
Buon Appetito.
NJBB, should have recognized the "gravy" reference. When I grew up in R.I. we all called it gravy. Then I met my wife's family right over from Sicily, and they all call it Sauce or "Sausa". They never heard of gravy and they've made me more italian than i was before.
Back to what the original thread was talking about...
I went to Fenway two nights ago, Gabbard pitched a GEM!
I had a hot dog as soon as I got there because even though I live in Boston, I was vurious about the rolls.
Lets just say I ordered 1 everytime the hot dog vendor walked by my seat...
6 Hot Dogs at Fenway park, $24
A pack of Rolaids for my heartburn, 99 cents
Watching a Red Sox win at the point in the season, PRICELESS!
GO SOX!
