With the swing I taught him, he hit 3 balls in one game over 360' when he was 14 years old. At the time he weighed 135 pounds and was 5' 6" tall. His 1st game of High School ball (which was in a J.V. game), he hit a ball 380' against a 87 MPH fastball and he still only weighed 145 pounds. You can't do that and not have early and late batspeed at his size.quote:Originally posted by deemax:

Please post a clip so we can see how to duplicate Bonds and Gwynns swing.
Not to get off topic, but there is a JV player in Kentucky who throws 87? That must be some kind of varsity team that doesn't need that arm.
Sorry, I didn't see this the first time around. Yes we do have one that threw 87 as a Sophomore. His name is Aaron Alvey, you may recognize the name. He pitched for Valley Sports when they won the Little League World Series. He threw a few balls at 78 miles an hour in the final game against Japan as a 12 year old. We have one at my Son's High School right now that threw 92 as a Sophomore. His name is Zack Cox. He hit 95 in Florida during Spring break this year as a Junior.
